Just got LASIK at the end of December.
I talked to my eye doctor and got it a week later because some law increased the surgery price by $1700 at the beginning of 2017.

It is so fucking worth it.
I was pretty blind before but now I have 20/15 in my left eye and 20/10 in my right eye. I'm used to it now but for a while I had to adjust to everything being in super HD.

Anyway, the procedure is easy but it was freakier than I expected. They hold your eyes open, cut into your eyeball, you go temporarily blind and then everything is blurry, a laser burns your eyeball and you can smell it burning, and the whole process takes about 15 minutes.

Your eyes burn like fuck for about 12-24 hours after but your eye sight is instantly better and it continues to get better for a few months after that.

No more glasses.
No more worrying about wearing contacts and possibly sleeping at a girl or a friend's house.
Worth it.

I read every article and watched every video I could find on LASIK before having it done.

You will find shitloads of videos about having permanently dry eyes, seeing halos around lights, going blind, and all kinds of weird shit.

For about 8 hours after the surgery my eyes were really dry and I saw halos around lights. It scared the shit out of me. Then the next day the halos were gone and my eyes stopped feeling dry after another day.

I know at least half a dozen people that have had it done and none of them regret it, including me.

And with the whole "but yer eyes will just get bad again in 30 years", who gives a shit. That's 30 or so years of not having to deal with glasses and contacts if it's even true that they will get bad again. And then you'll just wear glasses again like you do now or maybe you'll just get LASIK again.

But long term effects, none that are known. Everything has long term effects though. We're probably fucking up our eyesight just by staring at the computer screen right now. Pick your risks.

I mean I've gotten along well enough with glasses but fuck - I think of stupid shit like how terrible they would be in an end of the world scenario. I'd have to turn to banditry or something just to insure glasses - hunting other poor eyelets down.

Never underestimate the power of glasses. Seriously. There's a decently built guy at my gym with a cute face who puts on this glasses when he writes down his lifts in his training log. That moment is so perfect for me. muscle+good face + glasses = one hit kill.

I paid £6500 for LASIK at the best clinic in the UK last month. I paid that much because I have wider Than average pupils and so I required a more specialised treatment.

Eyes are still healing (some ghosting, glare from lights at night, plus a bit of astigmatism (they intentionally do that since everyone regresses a bit so they make you a bit long sighted to compensate)) but so far, glasses free and couldn't be happier.

Prescription was ~-3.5 in both eyes.
