I'm contemplating doing the REPP GSU Perimeter College (CC) to GT guranteed transfer program, but I don't know. I really like UGA tho. And I'm not sure if I want to spend my first 2 years in a community college. I'm conflicted.

Had the same thoughts, trust me I learned it's better to go to a college with a harder curriculum. Shows that you're up to snuff with a pace slightly below their own if you end up with fantastic grades. And getting on the good side of a great college like UGA gets you places and words of recommendation will weigh heavier.

I applied for accounting at UGA. I'm probably gonna switch it to CS or CSE at orientation. I'm considering transferring to GT. But if that doesn't work out, UGA is still a great school to get a degree from, plus that hope/zell money.

|And, I am hesitant about rushing. I heard the IFC fraternities don't really rush minorities like me (I'm South Korean and 5 11 if that matters). And I don't really want to be in a multicultural fraternity either. (the people in those asian fraternities look lame af, my friend showed me the fb page of those poeple.)

Will not being part of Greek Life have any effect on social life? I plan on joining an intermural sport like Track & Field which is what I did freshman year of HS. So hopefully intermural sports (and maybe weightlifting) will help me find a social group.

My brother is a in a fraternity at UGA, I was in one at LSU.

Certain fraternities (the ones considered top tier mostly) are pretty much strictly white. But not all are, I had asian friends in some other ones and Ive met some at UGA also. Youre not black so thats good, if you were black I would tell you to not waste your time.

That being said if you decide rushing isnt for you thats ok too. You will meet ALOT of people in college. I spent half my time living with non-greeks and the other half with my pledge brothers.

I would say go through rush and at least see what its all about. Go to FRESHCO if you are really interested in rushing. Most of the fraternities at UGA do their rushing during the summer of FRESHCO.

I go to A&M but I also grew up in CSTAT. I'm 25 still getting my bachelors like a pleb but I can tell you the best bars in town.

Northgate is usually just good for one thing - bar hopping with your friends. Getting a pickle shot at tipsy turtle, going to Sake for Sakebombs, buying a bottle of Champagne at Social, and ending the night with an irish car bomb at Obannons.

Avoid 12 bar, it lacks any and all personality, it's a shit bar and it's $6.00 for a shiner bock there god forbid you want a craft beer be prepared to pay $10.00 - Backyard is good because of the backyard aspect, fun to grab a picnic table with your mates.

Westend is expensive but good if you are here on daddy's money and drive a brand new BMW at 18 all around town

Harry's is the dirtiest place on Northgate and also usually there for people who lived here before they enrolled.

The Corner is full of bro's, but like bro bro's, like Chad's. It's aight.

Karma is shit, 512 Shiner Park is shit (used to be called daisy dukes), Mad Hatters is ok. Blackwater Draw has good food and decent local craft. Obannons again is great for car bombs or grabbing a pint of decent beer with friends on a relaxing week-day. Duddley's is just ok.


The real bars are off northgate. The one's that you could possibly call home or go there often to make actual friends. Poet's is great for decently priced pints of craft while you play pool and darts. Most the regulars there are a mixed bunch, townies. Good people though.

Yesterdays is for if you are 30 or older, if you are then this place is for you.

Carney's and Ptarmigan is great for small get togethers in a bar outside of the northgate mess. Regulars there are kina hipster but cool.

Wheels, Chapmans, and Skikorski's are all extreme dive bars for 30+ age. Do not go to these unless you are willing to talk badly about black people openly or get in fist fights with 50 year old bearded men. Not a joke.

Grand Stafford Theatre is great for seeing touring bands. There are bands that play here that get NPR mentions all the time. Green Day played here once. Drinks are over priced but hey what do you expect.

Proudest monkey is there for the food, the drinks are cool and all but those burgers oh my god.

Murphy's law is a 'regulars and young professionals place" and a lot of the people there mix with the Revolutions regulars, which brings me to the last bar I'll talk about

Revolutions. The hipster capitol of B/CS. Local bands always. A dedicated group of regulars, some of which have been going to Rev's for 20 Years. This bar kind of has it all IMO. They tolerate random walk in people, everyone is welcome here because it's a real hippie place, but don't piss off the regulars or start a fight, the entire bar will kick your ass because 90% of the people there only go to that bar and they consider it home. they have standup comedy, local bands every week, poetry nights, trivia nights. It's the best bar in town but you have to earn your way into the regular crowd.

Their CS program situation is comparable to a sealed room full of 3-day-starved crack addicts with a stuffed turkey thrown in the middle. I transferred to UAB because I liked the people here more than I did there. The one thing I miss from auburn is the gym. The indoor track was amazing and actually made indoor running interesting. The climbing wall looks cool af and you can watch people climb as you lift.
