I've gotten a lot of flak here for daring to disagree when some brain-melt recommended people to skip breakfast.
I find this whole fasting business incredibly retarded. How can you expect your body to adapt properly to nutrients, if you are starving yourself for half of the day and then ingest massive amounts of food. Doesn't work that way.
My recommendation will always be to have a rich breakfast, a balanced lunch and a light, but protein packed dinner.
That worked for me and for countless others.

Count your calories, avoid useless carbs (especially in the evenings) and get yourself a sensible routine. That is the key to /fit/ness. Not some autistic self flagellation diet.

I use these fizzy vit c drinks to carry me over between meals. Barely any cals and wakes me up. Can it hurt me to go over the daily recommendation? One tablet is 1200% the recommended dose, and I'm having several a day. Will I just piss out the excess vit c or will it hurt me?

I diagnosed with diabetes, and ever since I've started my new diet I've had no appetite. Can dumping all sugar and carbs for 2 weeks do that too you? It'll be a few days before my check up to get medication and I just want to make sure I'm not doing anything dumb.

For the record I'm 210 pounds and I'm struggling to eat 1000 calories a day. I used to eat around 2500.

Guys I started doing cardio in gym over a month ago, rowing and biking. Both have improved a lot, I can row for 2x10min and bike for 25 min with good effort.

Went to a forest trail today that is 2.5km and tried to jog, my breath gave out withing 2min and heart rate went too high right after and then about after few more min muscles started to give out.
Why was my breath and heart first thing to fail? Those to factors are not an issue while I row and bike anymore.

Lower BF%? There's about a 15% difference in density between fat tissue and muscle. So it's not strange to have the same size waist at a higher weight but with less fat. I went from my max weight of 160kgs down to 138kg. At the time I was looking for work so was staying completely clean in case I had to pass a test. Find a job, there's no drug testing policy so last weekend I buy a quarter ounce and start vaping again.

I've done fasting for about a month, and I admit it's helpful for me to limit myself to a certain window in which to eat. Psychologically, if I cut off all food consumption before 6pm, I more easily commit to not eating anything else in the day.

However, I will have to stop doing IF since it really just doesn't fit my schedule. Currently I have to have 2 meals at work, and I'm too busy to fit those in. I barely have enough time to eat 1 meal.

It's possible that cutting with fasting days could be more effective. I'm willing to consider that possibility. But the way you're talking is as if nobody has made a permanent change in their physique with constant calorie restriction. You're massively overreaching with your belief in fasting. To you, the subject of your faith is having a halo effect on everything it touches. You're falling into a happy spiral of your belief giving you positive feelings of righteousness and those positive feelings being evidence that your belief is a good thing which further hardens your belief.

How can i handle this binge I did last night?

Whole jar of peanut butter
18 Slices of bread
Shitload of grapes
2 bananas and 2 apples
half a huge avocado - 15g fat
and a can of beans

Everything accounted for (including the things I can't remember now) that's about roughly 7000 calories.

If I fast for around 3 days, will I not gain any weight? I'm mostly worried about the fat though, since I had to have had around 300g, I'm surprised I haven't had a heart attack. I could also give less of a fuck about what I've lost already since this is such a huge setback, I just want to put any weight on.

So far I've only been drinking water.

Thank you anon :) I'm not deluded enough to think i've made massive progress or that i'm not disgusting or anything (which is why that one anon is so laughable to me. That said you're better off not just fasting. You'll probably come off the fast into another binge and that isn't going to help you in the long run. That being said, one day won't set you back that much, even a shitty day like this. Just start over tomorrow. After my birthday some anons told me to reduce by an extra 200-500 than normal for the week then resume normally, and while I didn't lose any weight that week I didn't gain any either.

In my defense I was trying this OMAD (one meal a day) thing I saw on youtube. Basically made making food easier since I was too lazy to cook 3 times a day.

I only ate one meal a day for about a week. But it spiraled out of control and I then I ended up binging that much.

Could've also been because I've been doing this whole foods vegan diet my gf told me about which has helped me in the last four months lose around 25llbs. I was eating almost no salt, oils or nut butters. But I cracked once I got a taste again of peanut butter with salt.

Answer a few questions for me maybe we can figure this out together instead.

Are you exercising too? What kind? Cardio, lifts, both, one or the other?
Did you track everything you ate? Did you drink anything besides water? (so many hidden calories in drinks, you'll drink your whole daily intake before you realize it some days).

Have you tried making meal plans or meal prepping so you don't have to question what you're eating that week? That's how i solved my problem. My biggest problem with eating is that i often went for convenience, so my husband and i ate out a lot instead of me cooking at home (and the only thing he's good at cooking is steak and vegetables so he cooks like once every five months lol). So i started doing meal prep. Now I only cook once a week and all of my meals are grab-n-go which completely takes any chance of eating something i shouldn't out of the equation. I prep breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks (really just some fruit salads pre-portioned in small tupperwares).
I track everything i eat on myfitnesspal and if i want to eat something not premade, i enter it on MFP first and see if i still want to eat it (You'll be amazed at how easily you fight an unhealthy craving when you see how much it throws the whole day off. I've avoided a lot of binges this way it's my number 1 tip for everyone out there).

You ate 7000 calories that means you fucked up 2 weeks of 500kcal deficit or 1 week of 1000kcal deficit, probabily a bit less since you don't gain weight 1:1 in a single day. The point being the damage is done, being too strict is what led there so the best thing to do is resume a diet at a reasonable deficit. No point in crying over spilled milk.

I think you need to find a less constricting diet anon. Remember this needs to be something you can live with for the rest of your life. It's better to learn control and calorie management than to completely deprive yourself of something you love. What sounds better? Eating a proper serving of peanut butter once or twice a week or eating 9 peanut butter sandwiches every once in awhile because you couldn't commit to the diet? It's better to find ways to fit it into your diet and just adapt your habits instead.

Instead of a peanut butter sandwich since you clearly want the peanut butter more than the sandwich, try getting yourself a serving of peanut butter (2 tablespoons for most jars, which is actually a lot more than you'd think if you properly measure it out) and cutting up an apple (The more pieces of apple you cut it up into the longer you can eat it too) and eat it that way.

But most important, track your food intake and make sure these snacks fit in with your other meals. That's really how you enjoy what you like to eat already without going overboard yknow?

You can do it anon you just need to find what you can live with.

Fad diets don't work because they make you yo-yo like you're already seeing.

Also salt and oil are fine to eat, you need those in your diet just healthy forms of it and in moderation.
Humans crave sweet, salty, and oils (Fat) by nature because it's what we ate in the wild. Don't deny those cravings, just feed them in healthier ways.

Also if you find you're still hungry after a snack or a meal, try eating slower, try eating off a smaller plate (it makes your brain think you have more food than you do. it works for me i swear), and try drinking a glass of water and waiting an hour before you go get more food

Hey /fat/. Newshit here. Just wondering if I was doing cardio right when I was back at the gym. Planning to start losing weight again since school's over in here. Those 2 weeks at the gym really affected my grades and it's what made me stop. Anyway, during that time, the gym instructor literally told me nothing except to just do cardio and explained to me how the machines work. Since I've committed to go to the gym for at least 2hrs/day, I have limited myself to work out for 30 min (Frequently extending treadmill time) for the 4 cardio machines that was in there. (Treadmill, spin bike, elliptical, and recumbent bike) Although those 2 weeks of work out really gave out noticeable changes, is there a way to maximize weight loss by skipping some of those machines and extending the time to an effective machine/s?

You maximize weight loss by tracking calories and eating less than your TDEE. Cardio helps, but is completely secondary to your diet.

For an effective cardio workout though look up High Intensity Interval Training. Cardio isn't good unless you feel like you are going to die

Don't leave them in pots. Invest in some tupperware (amazon has a few cheap mealprep sets of tupperware you can get but i prefer pyrex for the durability and long term use). Having everything portioned out in it's own little "lunchbox" type thing might make it easier to see that they aren't for you to just binge on.

Labeling them with the day and when you can eat them might help you as well.

Aside from that, you need to practice control which is the biggest thing to learn.

So like for me this is a typical day
>breakfast is two egg omelette cups (make them in muffin tins, two amounts to about one egg's worth, plus i add spinach and peppers to it and occasionally bacon since it's 1-2 bits per cup. I'll eat this sometimes with a quarter of a half of an avocado (I can't math you know what i mean right?) and an oat-muffin (literally oats, yogurt, and blueberries so its like oatmeal for people who hate oatmeal).
This amounts to about 400 calories and fills me up. Sometimes i'll have fruit alongside it if i'm still a little hungry like some blueberries or a banana, or i'll wait a couple hours and then have the fruit part

These are usually a pretty small meal for me because I'm not as hungry in the afternoon but you could make larger servings of these than I do (I use decently small sized mason jars for them).

All around I usually make it to about 1200 calories.
On the days I lift I add a chai tea protein shake (protein powder, 1/3 c coconut milk cause lactose intolerant, a frozen banana, brewed chai tea, and some nutmeg for extra spices. Matcha works well too but you could probably use any tea)

And as long as your heart rate is like 140-180 bpm you are doing just fine. The machine you use doesn't really matter, it's all in your heart rate. Look up HIIT routines using the machine you like the most and try that out

That might've been some rule my gf made up to keep me on track but I think the idea of "whole foods" was to steer away from processed foods and only have raw, or soley one ingredient based foods. ex: the nut butter I had could not contain any sugar or other oils, it had to be purely peanuts or almonds.

I did enjoy so much that I was able to cook my own food though which really kept me going with this. I may have to work on planning and food timing better then I guess. That OMAD thing I mentioned earlier really fucked me up. I may look into Intermittent Fasting a bit more carefully, I just need to watch how I feed myself.

Depends. If you just started this is kind of normal, especially if you're obese. I started at 241 and I lost my first ten pounds in a week and a half. After that it staggered off to the normal 1-2 pounds a week. Not eating enough can do this too but it's more likely your body would slow down if you were eating slightly under (You have to be eating massively under to see that kind of loss daily otherwise).

I'm the same mealprep anon here and i have to agree with this anon too. Once in awhile if i'm really excited about a meal i'm making, i'll make an extra portion and use that as my lunch (Usually chicken and veggies night because it's my favourite. Baked chicken, tomatoes, zucchini, carrots, sweet potatoes and onion? Yum!) This anon's advice is possibly better than my suggestion actually if it's the excitement for the meals making you binge it all up.

Another thing: Portion shit out when you go to eat it, never let yourself eat from the container/the box/the jar/whatever it is, and stay out of the kitchen otherwise.

Listen to what the other anon said. You should also add some weight training if your goal is weight loss. Easiest way to explain why is this: The more muscle you have, the more calories your body naturally burns. Lifting also burns more than cardio. Even if you don't want to go absolutely hard on it and work out everything you should work on raising your basic strength. Plus if you're very overweight, it'll lessen the chance for loose skin when you're finished (Same with drinking enough water. Always have water by your side)

Second the tracking. You legitimately won't realize how much you're eating until you do.

I suggest this to you and to anyone reading this just starting out: Take a week and track everything you eat without changing your habits (Writing it down and then entering it all on myfitnesspal or another tracker at the end of the day works for this). This will be a legitimate eye opener for how much you're putting into your boy without knowing it. Then on the next week, make your adjustments. Did you drink most of your calories? Drink water. Water water water. Etc. This is what helped me, and it even helped my mom realize why she wasn't losing any weight (so much cream and sugar in her coffees. luckily she isn't fat her metabolism is just slow from getting older.

You can eat nut butters on a raw/whole food/clean eating diet, you're right in that it should be purely the nuts. But i will say this, it's going to have sugar and oil in it because that's what the nut naturally has in it too (When you open a jar of natural peanut butter or almond butter it's usually got a thick layer of oil sitting on top for instance) I think maybe you took it too literally from your girlfriend? I think you're better off eating a normal three meals a day diet. At most, I think it's only reasonable to skip one meal for most people. Your body needs fuel (and that's a good way to look at food). If you have to skip a meal skip breakfast. Imo it's the easiest one to skip if you do skip a meal just depends on your daily schedule.

As for the tupperware (that's also me you replied to. multiple posts because i run out of posting room haha) you can either look for BPA free plastics (Meaning it won't have the nasty shit that can leech into your food) or go for glass. Walmart has an off-brand pyrex.

You can also estimate it by your ability to talk doing the exercise, if you can NOT talk at all then your heart rate is high. If you can talk without much effort it's too low

As for filling foods, some people will say fiber but for me it's protein. As long as you don't go crazy and eat too much protein (which i think is mostly lost nutrients if i remember what i read correctly? And risk of too many calories and other micro/macros) i find eating enough protein keeps me full with no problem.

I started off having protein shakes as a meal-replacement for breakfast because it filled me up, but now a normal breakfast does fine.

But if it's breakfast you should have some fiber with your breakfast anyway to promote good poops and because it's good for you and it's better to get your carbs in during earlier parts of the day so you can burn it off throughout the rest of the day.
