How long do you wait inbetween sets? How important is timing your rests? I've done 3 minutes religiously since I've started.

Rip says even up to S E V E N minutes is still viable. Where's the line? 7 minutes? 15 minutes? 5 hours? Surely it makes a difference
I go with 3-5 minutes max.
I can sort of feel when I'm ready for another set without waiting too long, if I go too fast I risk blowing the last rep on my bench.
When it comes to squats I go a solid 5 minutes.
i do 1 to 1.5 rests
Until the fire inside me re-ignites and i can bust out 6-8 massive reps
I feel like 90 percent of people will say a number between 1 minute and 5 minutes.
I also go for the 3 minute meme with the occasional shorter time if I'm feeling like a BIG GUY.
5 Minutes for strenght sets (3x5)
3 Minutes for assistance/hypertrophy sets (3x10-12)
Alternatively: Listening to my body to know when I am ready for the next set.

2 minutes starting from when I rerack. It helps to wear a watch.

I always get the feeling that im wasting time if I wait longer during a rest period.
