Why the FUCK is everybody telling me Behind the Neck Press™ is a bad exercise and gonna fuck my shoulders up?
I don't feel any discomfort doing them whatsoever as long as I only lower the bar to hairline on my neck, then back up. It hits my delts twice as hard as regular Press™
Give me 1 good reason why I shouldn't substitute regular Press™ for Behind the Neck Press™ entirely?

Because they are bad for your shoulders.

everything is bad for the shoulders. every exercise you do is bad for something
>>40938450
If you have the right form it's not bad

Unless it's behind the neck or upright row

You're allowing your shoulders to rotate in the plane they're supposed to and aren't slowly tearing away at your joints
BTN cant be a shoe all recommendation because it requires good mobility so people dont include it in routines so mobilitlets dont fuck their shit up. SS method squat bench deadlift and presses literally require no extra mobility so any beginner can do them.
1. mobility issues, people can injure themselves
2. its not really dangerous if you're doing higher rep work, or using it to assist olympic lifts (jerk or snatch overhead position)
doing something like ss or sl with 3-5x5 behind the neck press and no mobility work, expecting linear progression... is a nice way to fuck yourself up
btn presses work lateral/rear delts better than normal press, but desu you should be doing isolations for those anyways
snatch grip btn press (why do people call this thing fucking klokov press.... its a common assistance plenty of wl'ers have used for years) can be used as a variation if you want, but for bodybuilding it doesnt matter much

Some people won't be able to do it bc of pic related. Even for people that are able to do it, it's generally a bad position for your triceps and shoulders (externally rotated while elbows are further in than the fists). With proper mobility, tho, you might be able to pull it off. I do these for volume (4x10), it works great; I would never try to LP it tho, and generally I won't lift more than 80% of 5x5 ohp.

I don't think its that bad from my experience.
I do behind the neck OHP, but I always make sure to not lower it fully so it touches my shoulders, I also only lift the weight I'm comfortable with.
>I don't feel any strain at all
>no back pain or injury

If you work on your shoulder mobility, it's fine. Ed Coan says to only use 95lbs until you can do it for 20 reps then move up.

invest in bradford press instead, 5 sets to F with 55 pounds and my delts increased 3 times in size that day
