>Lose 28lbs since start of new year
>Feeling good
>Check my BMI, 26.6, rock on. Started out at 31 so not feeling obese
>Find out today about central obesity
>Measure my waist, 36ish inches
>I'm 5'9"
>My waist is 52% of my height, meaning I'm abdominally obese
>I'm still obese
Why didn't anyone tell me about this? Apparently being abdominally obese is significantly worse than having a high BMI. I had no idea how fat I was and how seriously at risk I was before I started losing weight. Fuck, now I just feel like shit.
stop drinking alcohol and fructose
36" is a big waist but it's not incredibly big. And it must be smaller than it was before. You've already got momentum don't stop now fucker
27 waist here

I'm not going to stop, I want this fat fucking gone. Thanks for the encouragement though.
BMI is such a fucking meme, though, even with little muscle development. I wish they'd stop talking about weight everywhere and start talking about waist size, because that's what actually matters to your overall health.

If you're under 5 feet tall it's not that impressive t b h

there are people that store fat in other places other than abdomen , bmi isnt a meme

What does that matter. You're not done yet. Cut is finished at 12% body fat. Or 15% if you're not the motivated kind. Keep going. With little fat it doesn't matter where it's stored. You'd be healthy and good looking.

12%? Really? That's gonna be tough, but okay. I just don't want to look auchwitz mode before I start bulking. I've been lifting a little bit, but have made almost no gains because of my hard cut. I guess the more weight I lose at this point, my body fat percentage will go down a lot faster.

Gains can even be made at 18% body fat. This bulk and cut stuff is vastly overrated in untrained or little trained people. High protein intake is mandatory though. Below 15% it gets tricky. There you will lose some muscle on a cut.
Just lift heavy. High intensity, low volume is the way to go on a cut. Should still build or at least maintain muscle. Just get it over with and never get fat again. At least you got the experience. Future cuts will come easy to you and if you do a slow bulk you will never again cut more than 4 weeks in a row.

Word, I will keep that in mind. I have made some gains, particularly bicep and shoulders, but not much to write home about. I'll start eating disgusting meals of poached chicken when I get closer to 15%.
Thanks for the advice.
OP start running and doing fork downs x failure errday. Honestly, how could you think you're thin with a Goddam 36 inch waist?!
If you made no gains it might be improvable training, nutrition or recovery. Make sure you sleep well, eat high protein, get omega 3 and ZMA. It could change it.
Also learn to cook. No need to eat dry chicken every day. Asian food is good for cutting. Check basil chicken stir fry, Tom Yum chicken soup, Indian chicken curry, Indian Biryani etc. Slightly more calories, but works long time because it actually tastes good.

Bmi is a total meme. It's literal trash when considering the health of an individual because it only measures mass and not what the mass is composed of. Pic related is considered morbidly obese according to bmi
