It helped me when doing recovery gym sessions post hip surgery, my glutes were in such a state I thought I was suffering from some surgery related complication until my physio pointed out it was the muscles and did a couple of massage sessions. Asides from that or things of that calibur I don't see the point. If my muscles hurt after a normal workout, good, it means I went hard and I want to keep that pain as a reminder I went hard. I view massages just as a thing people get to relax or feel good if they aren't involved in recovery for something actually harmful to you.
