Could you survive the Titanic /fit/?
Scenario: You're a third class /fit/izen who's only arrived on the Boat Deck to see that the last lifeboat is being lowered away. Freezing ocean water is quickly enveloping the ship. Could you make the distance it takes to get to a boat before you freeze to death?

i can't swim
>>40883436
I believe so.
>>40883436
I don't care anymore
>>40883436
I would be able to, but the people in the already overloaded boats would prevent me from climbing in.

No, and neither could you. That's why so many died.

Fun fact, most boats weren't even half full.

> swim to boat
> freeze on boat

Ive taken cold showers for 3 years and can swim pretty good, also very strong so i could throw beta cucks in the water while taking their life jackets as reserves.

This. Probably not.
I don't think energy or muscularity has much to do with it. Mainly your biology.
The freezing water puts you into shock and fucks your system instantly.
Smartest thing to do though would be to make a dry pack for your clothest and strip before ya jump desu. 20-30lbs of wet clothes is a lot when you're swimming and only keeps you colder when you get out.

The Titanic disaster is a case study in how not to do health and safety, it's almost comically bad looking back at it with the 20/20 vision hindsight is afforded, casualties in the Titanic disaster are also often used as an example dataset for logistic regression for first year statistics students, just why it stuck in popular culture is quite beyond me, I think we can all thank James Cameron for this

Bullshit. Any oerson can remain functional in freezing water for about q0-15 minutes before the muscles stiffen up. Hypothermia wont be an issue for 30 minutes.
