Please someone explain this to me.
If I cook them and drink the water as a soup, am I not getting the 26%? Why do most packages list the 8%?
>Boiled
As opposed to what, eating raw fucking lentils?
you have N number of raw lentils.
their total mass = 100g.
you have M number of boiled lentils
their total mass = 100g.
Is N >,< or = M?
the lentils swell up with water so they weigh more, similar to how rice increases in volume.

there's literally no way to cook them unless by boiling, it's confusing that lentils packages list their raw protein %. Doesn't it hurt sales, and the popularity of the grain in general?
just weigh them raw then cook it

no its because 100 g of lentils is less lentils that 100g raw lentils. they expect you to weight them out and then cook them. weigh your lentils before cooking then weigh them after and theyll weigh more.

Can't guarantee how well people cook them, and thus how much extra water will be absorbed. Also not reasonable for people to weigh them post-boil.

How are you still not getting it?
Holy fuck, my sides

wrong. they can be cooked dry.

This is why you shouldn't boil pretty much anything, you lose the nutritionz.

It would greatly help dumb people to list both raw and boiled facts, on the same label. You have demonstrated the necessity.
