It actually works for me. Almost every lift engages your core, and if you drop weight slightly, maintain strict form and concentrate on keeping a tight core (especially on compound movements) your abs will develop. Of course adding an work on top of that will do nothing but help but I find it boring and often skip it at the end of a workout
Here's the bottom line:
Compounds are enough to get ~passable~ abs.
Without direct ab training you will not have a truly aesthetic core, however.
It's like expecting to get big Triceps by benching and only benching
Didnt train abs for 5 months of bulking, now ill have to go twink mode to get them. Do those ab excersizes, dont end up like me
I don't get this trend of not working some muscle group. If you have enough time, why not do something about them? It's not like you're going to lose anything.
