insulin response to sweets
Doesn't make you fat, it causes an insulin response like regular sugar that drops your blood sugar, which makes you hungry. Overeating makes you fat.

Look up about phosphoric acid and its effects on bone calcium stores.
Swapped from red bull and Pepsi to SIPS and Pepsi Max, lost 4kg in two weeks.

Adding more calcium would potentially make the effects worse. Plasma calcium on its own doesn't affect whether the bones absorb any, but it does increase risk of atheriosclerosis (hardening of arteries) and in turn risk of things like stroke and heart attack. So on top of what your bones are dumping out you're adding exogenous calcium too.

This.
It doesn't make you fat, it makes you hungry. The effect of getting fat is indirect, and can be avoided.
The real travesty is lardasses who order a Diet Coke with their McDonald's thinking they'll save some calories on their meal. It will probably only them fatter by giving them cravings throughout the day, which fat people give in to since they have no willpower.
If you do have willpower, diet soda can be enjoyed in moderation (if you ignore the negative effects of artificial sweeteners as excitotoxins and feminizing agents, that is).
But seriously, if you just need the sensation of a carbonated beverage then man up and drink some goddamn Schweppes.
