Paleo is pretty much synonymous with not eating processed shit. I'm not strict on this, I still eat some cheese and drink milk, and I'll have a snack bar every so often, but it doesn't make up a significant portion of my diet.

I don't watch many nutrition videos like this on youtube, I usually like to read data for myself when I come across it, but that whole channel is a great resource with so much content, most of it looking at supposed health claims of low carb and paleo style diets. His playlist about the paleo diet spans 71 videos and goes into way more depth than I ever would just to understand how wrong the paleo diet can be.

You vastly overestimate the average physical ability of the average american. If you do 30 minutes on a tredmill 3 days a week your already in "good shape" compared to other americans. Honestly it's not such a specific diet as how there is SO much information about nutrition and dieting and people still manage to not know shit about it. How do you eat 3+ meals a day FOR YOUR ENTIRE LIFE and never think to learn basic nutrition? I have a 250lb friend who has been "on a diet" for the past year and seen basically no progress, maybe lost 5 or 6 lbs at most. The last time I talked to her she only ate carbs before noon because that's what her personal trainer told her to do. Supposedly she is tracking calories with myfitnesspal but if she was being truthful about it she would've lost about 50 lbs by now.

My gf has a legit eating disorder. Basically she's been sick most of her life. When she was really young she never cared how she looked(just like all of us), and she was healthy. But as a teenager she developed anemia, endometriosis, and severe anxiety. I think at her lowest weight she was 90 lbs, and looked like a skeletal. She was physicially and mentally ill, and everyone she knew complemented her on how skinny she was, despite the fact she was dieing. Her boyfriend at the time even had a mother who had recently died from, get this, anorexia, and he constantly complimented her on how skinny she was and complained about fat people.

So, while I do agree with you that meme diets and the memers are all a bunch of faggots, there are people out there who have legitimate issues they're dealing with.

I disagree. I think there's actually more strict vegans than strict paleo, so vegan is definitely worse. But there's a huge amount of people who are "mostly paleo", meaning they stick to whole foods and grass fed when possible, but don't give a shit about being perfect. 80/20 rule applies.

It's the nut job paleos who are 100%, crossfit, etc, those are annoying. But that's dying out (surprise) because going 100% on something is rarely sustainable.

IF apparently has legitimate evidence to support claims of it accelerating weight loss. but from personal experience, i find eating 1-2 large meals a day when restricted to a lower calorie diet is much more satisfying than breaking it up into small meals. its getting over the hunger hump when initially starting IF thats the hard part.

the jury is still out on keto, though itll be interesting to see in the future should more studies confirm/give stronger evidence for its supposed benefits in regards to its effect on insulin.

in the end though, i dont see anything short of actual drugs that can contribute to weight loss on a level that isn't negligible compared to calories in vs. calories out.
