Who is /fat/ for? Fat members of /fit/ who want to learn how to eat right, lift weights, and lose fat. Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get through it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it.

>50 lbs in 2 months

how?
>>
>>40656489
500 to 1000kcal per day plus lifting and cardio with thermogenics.
Three followed days of exercises, one of rest, repeat.

Do get your daily vitamin and mineral needs, though. Or else you'll feel hungry. And yes, it is possible to get what you need under 1000kcal.

Also, no cheat days. I didn't feel hunger or craving ever since and junk food is unpleasant to me now.

binge eater here
spent all of February binge eating literally ~10k (yes 10,000) calories a day and went from 187lbs to 203lbs

it's been 9 days since I've last binge ate and I'm so scared of doing it again
>>
>>40656792
Damn, what would your typical binge consist of?
>>

every since what?

most fatties will cave in a couple of hours once the hunger kicks in.
>>
>>40656792

most fat asses will be in horrible pain soon after.

>>40656920
Because most fat asses that are trying and failing are usually doing something wrong if they're still having cravings, like completely ignoring the craving instead of replacing it with a better option.

I don't know what to do.

My SS 5x5 is hitting plateaux, and my legs hurt. The hurt is kinda scaring me away from the gym but I press on because I want to make it.

I'm beginning to think that making gains and losing weight as a fatty is a meme. I want to undergo a cut, but I want to maintain the low gains that I have. I've been thinking of doing:

A: Squat Bench OHP (3x5) Dips (4x12) HIIT 20 mins
B:Rest, Low intensity cardio for 60 mins like fast walk or jog
C: Squats Rows DL (3x5) Chin-ups 3x5 HIIT 20 mins.

And go ABCBABC.. while on a 500 calories deficit on maintenance (not substracting exercices)

Would that be good?

Pic is me, I'm 6' and 285 lbs. The need to lose weight goes without saying, but do I really have to lose 100 pounds no matter what THEN build muscles?
>>

It's not a meme, because I did it I used to look like you 220lbs at 6ft. Still got a bit of loose skin on the chest but I look a 1000 times better then before.

Just make sure you're training hard and don't be affraid to put more volume in your routine 4 x 8 on every exercise for example. And eat a little under maintenance ofcourse.
>>
>>40656987
That depends on how big you are, but 70-80g should be just enough to not get deficient. You'll need more if you want to build muscle.

I read men aren't supposed to eat below 1,500 a day, so I've been at 1,500 a day for the past 6 weeks and lost about 14 pounds. But now I've started beginning weight training for 30 minutes 3 times a week/walking a couple of miles on rest days. Should I go up to 1,800 to make up for the extra I'm burning? Although I doubt I'm burning an extra 300 a day.
>>
>>40658131
I love eggs and toast too brah. dipping a well toasted piece of bread into egg yolk is delicious.

On the bright side it's not that bad, 2 eggs and a piece of toast is about 200 cals total.just don't overdo it.

I started lifting in jan on the 18th after 15 years of sitting on my fat ass playing video games and eating shit so I had almost no muscle. Pic is my lifts. My bench is stuck at 135 and my OHP 95. Doing 5x5
>>
>>40658135
There is no exercise that will increase the fat loss in any specific area of the body. You can only decrease or increase total body fat. This information is in the sticky. So that machine is a waste of money.

A home gym should consist of a barbell, plates and a power rack. Cardio doesn't require equipment.
>>
So counted started counting macros trying to get only 43g of fat, but everything has like 1 gram of fat per gram of everything else some.

Should I just eat like 600 cals a day then, and try the best can to get everything?
>>
>>40658265
What? I don't understand what you want. At 600kcal a day you'd need to get at least 400kcal of that as protein.
>>
>>40658225
Lose weight you fucking whale
>>
>>40658318
Just a rant, sorry. I'm just seeing that everything has tons of fat in it. I can't get close to my protein or carb needs without having triple the fat intake.
>>
>>40658355
>I'm just seeing that everything has tons of fat in it.
are you eating purely steak or something? Chicken, Eggs, Turkey, and even some cuts of Beef have minimal fat vs protein.
>>
>>40658355
This is what protein powder is for: getting large amounts of protein with little of the other macros. It's not a supplement. It's just food in powder form. Like powdered milk. Whey protein powder is actually a subcomponent of powdered milk, though not separated from powdered milk but made from the leftovers of cheese production (=whey). Check online for prices and buy the cheapest whey concentrate you can find. Drink it in shakes or add it to food or even use it in baking.
>>
>>40658225
You say you can't progress past those points, but is it because you aren't strong enough, or endurant enough? I feel like declogging your arteries and making it so the air you breathe is actually used would help.

Also, you probably busted your abdominal belt. Keep your core tight while lifting. God speed fat brah, may you make it.
>>
>>40658355
carbs are very easy to get - bread, rice, pasta....
for protein there's plenty of leaner meats, fish, stuff like beans are good too. i add kidney beans to most of the rice i have.
>>
>>40658381
a bread roll has 43g carbs and 20 grams of fat.

So I'm at this for today:
420 cal
20g protein, 43g carbs, 37g fat

I need to be at this:
2000 cal
200g protein,200g carbs,44g fat
>>
>>40657815
Lose fat, fill up skin with muscles.

what bread are you eating dude jesus christ. don't get big bread rolls, just get small slices that are 70-100 calories each.

>200g protein,200g carbs,44g fat
you do not need even remotely that much protein. 100g a day will suffice, especially if you don't lift often
>>

I had a realization today. Fat people are naturally selecting themselves out of the gene pool. In the past fatness was sometimes associated with wealth and prosperity. Now it's associated with laziness, lack of self respect, and poor long-term planning. So being fat is the same as showing everyone that you're ugly both inside and out.

It also shows how as a society, our priorities have changed since gathering food is no longer important. Intelligence, health, and respect are more important qualities than being able to put food on the table.

Damn you're retarded, is this the logic American's learn in their public schools?

By your reasoning every supermodel is the nicest person alive, and the fatter you are the meaner you are.

Take Boogie for example. According to your theory he must be a vile evil piece of shit. I don't know the man personally, but he definitely isn't from what I can see from his Youtube videos.

Neck yourself.
>>
>>40658536
you're projecting quite a fucking bit, my friend. bit odd how fucking enraged you got from my observation. is it not a fact that on average fat is viewed as ugly, thus less likely to reproduce? Over time, the tendency to eat more and be fat will be slowly trimmed out of the gene pool, at least in first world countries. This isn't a bad thing, faggot.
>>
>>40658562
I never said anything about being nice. I said that fatties are lazy, lack self-respect, and lack long term planning. Boogie is all of those things.

Again, being fat is merely an indication to the world that you lack basic self-respect and don't care about yourself. Pretty ugly imho.
>>
>>40658424
There is nothing wrong with having more fat in your diet unless you have a special medical condition and your doctor ordered a low fat diet. You don't need 200g of protein.

how do i get rid of my stretch marks guys, any possible way?
>>
>>40658540

I dunno man.

At 21 it's very hard to approach girls and be taken seriously as a fat guy. And yes you are missing out. Keep doing fit things.

To answer your question, your best bet would probably be mutual friends, or friends approaching girls who have friends. Be in conversations that the girls are already involved in.

I'm not going to tell you to be confident, because you're fat and I don't want you to think that this is OK. But, do take responsability for your actions, be aware of who you are, and of who you want to be. Don't be ashamed of who you are. You made bad choices, don't deny responsability. TAKE CHARGE. Base every action on that who you want to be and people will realize that you have drive, leadership and ambition.

I think girls don't like fat people not because of their physique, but rather what it says about them: spineless, lazy, no drive, etc. Circumvent that. Be assertive, dynamic, have goals.

On the way you might end up loving yourself more. Then you won't have to ask strangers on a Eskimo Snowman Building Forum how to approach girls. Approach them as human beings, know what you want from them, act accordingly.

You can try to get involved in some student organization or a club. Just get out there and show everyone that you're a good investment of time. That you get shit done. Don't try too hard with women, do your thing until your mindset changes.
>>
>>40658681
I've heard lotion and oils help, but honestly time is the best way to beat stretch marks.

Unless you went over 300 lbs or something crazy, stretch marks will disappear in 2-3 years.
>>
>>40658697

>>
>>40658567
Obesity rates in first world countries go up, tendency to eat more and be fat will be trimmed out. Sure dude.

You are the one projecting too, spitting so much hate against a whole group of people. Why don't you use that energy to be helpful to your fellow human beings. Hate is swallowing poison and expecting your enemy to die. It brings nothing good to the hated, and make you look like an idiot to the others.

I think you need to lay off the chan a little, and come back to the real world.
>>
>>40658713
Coconut oil.

Also you're gonna make it. Young skin is more elastic.
>>
>>40658713
I dunno that much about lotions man, but I'm sure there are resources you can google. Honestly though, loose skin and stretch marks aren't that big of a deal. You have your clothes on 95% of the time anyways, and when they're off if you're lean enough people won't really care or notice.

The good thing is you're still quite young so your body can rebound back quickly. Don't sweat it but start now.

>>
>>40658750
And even if you don't, man up and take responsability for those stretch marks.

Know how some people are like "Meh it's easy for him to be ripped, he was born this way blah blah genetics"?

They won't be able to say shit about your stretch mark body. They'll see you were fat, but took action and made it.

It's like seeing a fighter with scars. You assume he's a good fighter even if scars mean he got hit pretty badly many times... yet you don't think about that. You think about how bad he had it, and what he pushed through. Stretch marks are your scars.

It's not about being sensitive, and I'd tell you the same thing if I was prime Arnold. Stop having those toxic and retarded thoughts, and stop sharing them. They'll stain your personality and one day you'll wake up and realize that you became an asshole.

If you "came to a realization" that means that you actually spent time thinking about it. Use your time better, be a positive example. You won't change the world by being a dick, and people will just close their mind to you if you just spout shit at them.

Like, you're in a fat thread on fit. People willing to change. You could help them, in turn they'd help others, snowball effect. Instead, you talk about cleaning the gene pool. Nobody will listen to you after that.

>>inb4 "I don't care lulz"

If you care that much about having a better gene pool for the whole species, you should begin at a small scale with the office, this forum, your gym, your head, etc.
>>
>>40658803
i have been eating clean for 2 months now and it is the same for me. My body can't handle greasy disgusting food anymore, ate a pizza 2 weeks ago, after eating 1 slice i had to shit immediatly and my stomach felt awful, ended up throwing the rest away.

Cleaning the gene pool will happen one way or another. Evolution happens one way or the other. You're upset because you know I'm right. Being fat kills you after you reach reproductive age. If anything, fat people tend to be less educated, and less educated people make more kids. So sorry brah.

I'm 22. Seems like a lot of 2s. 22 years old, 22kg, 2 months.

And my skin is fine as far as far skins go. I'm very short (1,65m) meaning that loose skin is bound to happen given the weight I was. I still have to lose at least 20kg, I figure.
I have stretch marks on my belly so I will DEFINITELY have loose skin there.
>>
>>40658964
>less educated people tend to be fat

See, you agree with me whether you realize it or not. Obesity is a way of signalling to others your own deficiencies. People see those deficiencies and are repulsed by them. That's just the cold truth anon.

I appreciate you trying to dole out positive advice, but sometimes people need to face the cold reality. Lying to people and telling them to just mask everything with positivity is just as unhealthy as an obese person drowning their problems with food.
>>
>>40656422
A. Yeah losing weight is easy, most people just can't commit to it and when they do, end up back on their old habits and gain the weight back (though you gain weight slower than you lose it so it takes about double the time it took you to lose it to gain it back, leaving room to improve again)

B. It shouldn't be that easy. Try eating a bit more, please. You've lot a lost of weight so I think you should be good to slow down your progress a bit because your rate is pretty drastic.
>>
>>40657332
It depends.

I ate a single slice of pizza today but I don't really consider something a "cheat meal" unless it seriously digs into my TDEE.

I ate an order of General Tsao's Chicken the other day, which was supposedly 1500 calories. I went from 234 on my daily weigh in to 237 the next day.

I'm back down to 232 now though so no biggie.

Last week I ate 1000 calories worth of sushi in one meal but had a light breakfast and light dinner so I still was under on my TDEE.
>>
I went from 250 to 225 and my double chin still isn't gone.

Why isn't it gone? I didn't have a double chin when I first got to 225.

I lost about 35kg in 3 months

Still, you can have tough skin which will hold the fat in place better, or loose skin which will make it dangle. It'll adjust eventually, keep losing weight.

As of today i've lost 101lbs on this 15 month journey that i started on nov 2015 as a 360lbs NEET hambeast, today the scale showed 259.

The secret simply is to never stop trying, i failed countless of times, i really wanted to give up, but even if you eat 5k calories a day for a whole week, you gotta roll with it and keep going, ultimately you'll reach goal after goal, after goal. People don't fail when they binge, they fail when they stop giving a damn

Welp can't celebrate yet got another 60ish pounds to lose (6'2), let's make it CMOOON
>>
>>40660326
True this bro. I have went from 275 to 200 and back 3 times now. I refuse to give up, and this time will be the last I ever lose it. I will end myself before I let myself put that weight back on again.

Don't meet grills, they are gains goblins, making you comfy, wanting your time. Get fit and do you for a few years after you reach your goal, until that lifestyle is cemented and you know you won't go back to being a fatty, even if you don't have time to work out.

Of course you can I could have done that but I was an idiot, like 80% of the people that lose a lot of weight and end up in the in my same predicament. IMO what fucks us over is not understanding that this is meant to be a permanent lifestyle change so that when you'll be done you can afford some of your favourite meals every now and then. Most ex-fatties just snowball very fast in eating like they did before, I did so when I started to hate my life more than usual. It doesn't help that they (we) had been normal-weight for so little that the body still accumulates fat like there is no tomorrow.

When i was 5 or 6 i was severly undeweight, i got hospitalized because i fainted, they fed me with a tube for a week. After that they sent me to a childrens hospital that was supposed to teach me how to eat properly. The group at the hospital was a mixed group 90% fatties and 10% underweights, the food was mostly extremly healthy and huge portions. Every single day my stomach hurt from being forced to eat more. I was there for like 3 months, eventually i learned to eat until i was in physical pain. Once i got back home my parents didn't serve nearly as healthy food but i continued eating until my stomach hurt every day.
I was normal weight when i was around 7 or 8 years old, but soon after got fatter every day. Around 10 years old i was already overweight at 14 i was already obese, still always eating until my stomach hurt. Parents divorce and i live with dad, dad used to work as cook but only cooks real for on weekends, throughout the week we eat fast food basically every day. Around 17 years old dad has to move because of his job, so i need my own flat to finish school. My general day was usually skip breakfast, buy a sandwich for lunch, eat a pizza or other fast food for dinner + snacks all day. Probably around 120-130kg at this point.
Finish school and start studying mathematics at university, visit my dad and grandma for christmas after 2 years or so and have a mental breakdown. Abort my studies, get depression, apply for welfare sit at home play video games and eat all day. Do this for about 4-5 years and eventually i was 160kg.
Now i'm trying to change my life. Been eating healthy for ~6 weeks and i was below 150 this wednesday.
>>
Unique predicament. I have made it a rule not to eat midnight snacks anymore and I haven't for the past two months. Guys, I'm having a really hard time calculating the calories. Can I make it without counting them?
>>
>>40663851
They have good macros and lots of carbs like pasta or bread, but imo they keep you full for longer.
>>
>>40663851
>/fit/ is obsessed with them

Oats are simultaneously an ok source of protein, a great source of calories, a great source of fiber and yet still dirt cheap. All things /fit/izens value in food. Especially the price. Oats are among the absolute cheapest sources of calories around, along with white rice and pasta. But oats have considerably more nutritional value than those two.

Being high calorie might seem bad when you're eating low calories to lose weight but their fibrousness makes them very filling and able to keep hunger away for longer (for most people, results vary). The main culprit in their special fillingness is probably betaglucan, a water-soluble fiber.

>How are you supposed to prepare them? Like porridge or like cereal?

Either one. Rolled oats are edible as-is. You can just add liquid and eat them without heating or heat them with liquid to make oatmeal. I add whey protein, a little flax seed and a little oil to mine and cook them with water in the microwave. I don't actually use enough water to make it porridge-like. More water increases its fillingness and dilutes the taste, making it less enjoyable. My whey-oatmeal is closer to cake in consistency instead of porridge. Oats can be used in baking also, in bread as a prime example.

I think a very watery cooked oatmeal would be a really good diet food due its fillingness. Oats can soak up a lot of water which can make a few hunder kcal worth be a decent-sized meal.

>How quickly will my metabolism rate fall
According to studies on fasting metabolic slowdown doesn't even begin until around the third day of complete starvation. So you can probably be safe in believing that there will be no drop within the first three days of being in that deficit.

>How adverse will be the effect?
It varies. But the reduction in metabolic rate never equals the deficit. Reduction in other energy use, meaning physical activity, added with the reduction in BMR can negate the deficit. But if you're eating less calories than what your BMR is right now, then there's no way for the deficit to be completely negated.

>>

>>
>>40664416
Not as bad. Eat tons of protein while lifting and you'll lose nothing probably. If you lift you'll probably grow a little bit. Muscle loss while cutting happens once you've built yourself beyond an untrained level. Even novice gains will atrophy away when you stop training (without going on a cut). But with an untrained body you have little to worry about.

You grab your wallet.
You grab your keys.
You walk to the grocery (you aren't taking your car right?)
You walk to the ice cream aisle, at the far end of the grocery.
You skim the brands to find your ice cream of choice
You open the door.
You grab it.
You walk to the register.
You wait.
At EACH AND EVERY STEPS you could have thought "mmm I'm fat this isn't a good idea" but you didn't.

Literally nobody in these threads is consoling anyone into not losing weight. The worst we get are the "m-much starvation mode!!" fatties. How do people read these threads and come to the conclusion it's a hugbox rather than people motivating each other to do better every day?

Stop complaining about shit food. Shit food is easy: eat healthy meal and then go shopping. Don't bring shit into your house. When in a crave, drink water.

Problem solved.

As you lose weight and the difference between your maintenance and your deficit decreases, do you feel less hungry?

Depends on how fat you were.

I know I busted my hunger signals because I'm always hungry and not hungry at the same time. Your stomach will retract a little over time, but your pancreas might still be fucked a little.

After years it should come back to normal, but don't expect change in 2 months.

Don't starve yourselves, fellow porkies. Make a lifestyle change that you can stay on for the rest of your lives. I've been journaling my food (without even tracking calories) and I've been losing weight just by making an effort to eat healthier.
>>
>>40665706
Eating healthier won't make you lose weight if you use it as an excuse to eat 3 times more though. I'd still recommend calorie and macro tracking.
>>
>>40664807
Because it is lol

It's crazy how many calories you cut just by cutting out soda. I think if I avoided soda earlier in life, I'd be about 100 pounds thinner than I am now.

Jealous, curry is my favorite food, I really need to learn to make it.

Over time you should be able to estimate a meal without knowing the exact kcals. A plate of curry/rice would probably be like 700~ kcals, give or take 200 depending on size.

is it americans who have a problem with soda?

over here we just don't seem to drink that much of it (still fat).
>>
Is it really just calories in calories out? Like for example, if you're calorie limit was 2000 and you ate 2000 worth of McDonald's or something else that's generally considered bad, you would lose weight? Asking because I had a BLT club on wheat and some fries earlier and can't help but feel it was a cheat meal even though my tracker says it's around 1200 in calories.
>>
>>40666132
Yes, it boils down to kcals out > kcals in. Getting good macros is important too

BLT club with fries isn't even that bad man. I fit that stuff into my diet easily.

Sugar is the real problem, super calorie dense, addictive, put in everything, no nutritional value, doesn't fill you up.
>>
>>40666044
Might be the right answer. Now that I think about it being fat kind of put the perspective of just being ugly out of the picture.
>>
>>40666132
in essence, yes. but 2000 calories of mcdonalds wouldn't be very much food, and it wouldn't fill you up - odds are you'd end up binging later that day.

i've heard that keeping your fat intake low can be beneficial, but i don't know if this actually directly aids weight loss or if it's just because it'll lower the calories of what you're eating.
>>
>>40659322
you have to keep losing weight senpai, some people lose weight form certain parts of the body first, for example i have lost like 8 kilograms and my love handles have reduced just a little bit, however mi legs, tiddies and arms fat have reduced a lot, just keep going my dude, you're gonna make it
>>
>>40666187
4 big macs is 2000 calories. I don't think i could eat 4 big macs a day. It really only is not much food if you want to eat a menu with fries and coke.
>>
>>40666219
i was thinking about the meals. do people just eat big macs?
>>
>>40666311
you don't need fries and water is fine
>>
>>40666311
I eat fastfood once every 4-6 weeks, and if i choose to go to mcdonalds i buy just 1 big mac, i don't even consider it a cheat meal as i plan for it and don't exceed my calories.

Soda is the real problem. People get a fucking huge ass cup and they end up drinking several hundred kcals. Burger/fries isn't the worst thing in the world every now and then.

Mcds has probably the best fastfood coffee, I always get a black coffee with my meal.

I've been on a calorie deficit since I started going to the gym, why have my muscles gotten better? I thought the best you could do was mantain your muscle mass while cutting.
>>
>>40665748
That's true. I don't use eating healthier as an excuse to eat more, but I have a surge of willpower when I journal my food intake for some reason. I tried counting calories, but my family cooks so often that it was darn near impossible. But I've stuck to my food journal now for a year and a half and I've been constantly losing weight and getting stronger. When I try and starve myself I always gain weight. When I eat in moderation I do well.

It's because you learn to be more efficient with what you have. You "learned" how to contract, what to contract, etc.

It's kind of the Bruce Lee saying, "I don't fear the man who practiced 500 kicks, but I fear the man who practiced a kick 500 times" or something like that. Complex motions become effortless once repeated enough times.

Dem genetics. But seriously, people are born with different brains containing different inclinations. Fattyness is very likely a combination of genetic and perhaps some learned psychological inclinations and a suitable environment that enables those inclinations to bear fat. Regardless, if any fatty were kidnapped and tortured with starvation, they'd lose weight. Biology isn't the obstacle.

I imagine that the obstacle to weight loss can be that, when a in certain environment, the free will of the fatty enslaves them to a certain behaviour from which they are unable to break free as long as they have their freedom to choose what action to take and they remain in that environment. It's likely that they won't choose to radically change their situation: the people they associate with, where they live and how they spend their time. Being forcibly put into a situation where even with their inclinations they'd be unable to eat enough to stay fat would solve the problem but that's unlikely too and probably illegal.

I believe that, barring a u-turn in our culture of allowing everyone to choose for themselves no matter how bad their choices seem, some fatties are doomed to stay fat not because of biology but psychology and circumstances. I think there aren't many of those in these threads. They're probably more at home in /r9k/ which is the real hugbox.

I think journaling your eating has an effect of making you feel more accountable. I also experienced when I started lifting and counting calories. I felt that I didn't want to sully the purity of my food diary by records of shitty eating. I felt I didn't want to disappoint my records. This is probably more effective on those who have a bit of autism for accounting. it requires being autistic about recording everything; not allowing yourself to leave something out even if it's disappointing. And also feeling an autistic pride when you see a pristine record of data repeating with no blanks or failures to be seen.

Or maybe that's not such an autistic thing. Looking at your journal and seeing a long line of records of you succeeding at the thing you want to achieve definitely feels good. Seeing records of your failures in the past gives you guilt long after they happened and not just when you make the mistakes. The act of journaling creates emotional incentives that give you greater willpower in making better eating choices.

Probably the user interface matters here. A notebook where you won't often look at the previous pages may not work as well whereas a spreadsheet that displays data from far back every time you add something seems more effective.
