Anyone on /fit/ jump rope for cardio?
Ive been reading about it and it seems to be touted as superior to running both in terms of caloric burn and lessened impact on your joints but id like to get a second opinion.

>superior to running both in terms of caloric burn
Run faster. It's more intense than running, less intense than sprinting.
>and lessened impact on your joints
Eh, maybe. Do indoor rowing or cycling if this really worries you. It's all good though.
Love it. It gets the heart racing, and it's gentle on the knees.

Do you use a weighted rope?

Yeah but that stuff is expensive to buy. I suppose a gym membership would be worth it then.
just started to about two weeks ago. can't go longer than like 30 seconds without stumbling and having to reset. currently trying to learn boxer skip and feeling like an idiot.

Don't feel you have to spend money m8. Running and skipping is a good workout.

Op here: Are you learning boxing as well? Ive been considering learning to fight both as a skill and a way to get in shape.
Currently I'm kind of a fat fuck trying to correct my ways. Tired of having love handles.
I've never had the coordination to jump rope. Also 6'4" makes it tough.

You're gonna need a bigger rope.

Speed rope. I still can't run for shit. Thought there would be some transfer. Having scoliosis doesn't help either.

nah, just jumping rope for cardio. boxer skip is just slightly shifting weight from one leg to the other but damn it fucks with my coordination.

I'm 5'9", I gave my 6'3" brother my rope, and it looked like a child's plaything.
started 5 weeks ago. speedrope. already feeling like rocky while jumping. just keep going. doing 2 times a week 30min and maybe 1 time 15min with high intensity. check youtube tutorials so you dont hurt yourself

I've gotten transfer into my cardio. My 1mile and 3 mile times went down, and when I get gassed I notice it's shorter refractory period until I can star running again.

>transfer into my running
Transfer into my cardio was a bit vague
Should also mention that I took a 3 week break from running and only jumped rope 4x a week in 2 30 minute sessions a day
