Is it possible to build stronger legs without adding size (pic related as an example of good size)
I've naturally got big legs (I can see the veins in them and my lower stomach, I'm not fat) and at only 5'11 don't want huge legs to make me look stubby
Will low reps <5 only add strength and not size?

I had big legs before i started lifting. Did SS, got stronger legs, but not much bigger desu. Now a few years later I'm squatting 3pl8 but haven't had to go up in pants size or anything. Not going past 3pl8 cause I don't want bigger quads, I'm fine with the size i got.

As much as strength training can result in size gains, the main contributor is calories in.

If you eat maintenance you won't grow so much.
And yes, if you keep the reps low you won't grow. As much.

Look at the weight class Olympic weight lifters, most of them don't have overly large or bulky legs, despite being amazingly strong.

Ok. Then train your legs in low rep ranges and your upper body in hypertrophic rep ranges.

Like super low volume for your legs. And only do primary movements. Get an Olympic weightlifting programme. Do that for your legs.

Then do some faggy bodybuilder shit for your upper. But make sure you still progressive overload. Basically instead of working to increase your 5rm weight, use your 12rm weight. Strength progress will be suboptimal, but you'll get you some "gains". Especially with all the accessories.

Yeah do purely strength training for them and also cut down the amount of days you do for them too. So do something like an UpperxLowerxUpperxx
