>no decent gym withing an hour's drive
>decide to /homegym/
>oly bars are fucking expensive
should I get one of these 6'x1" barbells?
>>40605054
whatever you do, do not save on the barbell. you will regret it instantly
Shop around or/and suck it up.
>>40605054
Dont go cheap on oly bars, you gotta bite the bullet.
>>40605065
>>40605081
fuck if I get an oly bar I'll have to get 2" discs which for some reason are also fucking expensive.
Oly bars are a meme, get a normal one who is >175cm long
>>40605163
I mean most of these can't support 200kg which is roughly lmao 5 plaet. But yeah, most people who have <2 yrs liftan won't need them.
>>40605054
i paid like ~1600 for my homegym setup
real fucking happy with it though
>>40605256
Retweet. Most expensive thing is weights and bar. That alone was almost 1000. But they are nice af and I know will last prob as long as me. Rogue bumper set and ohio bar.
>>40605054
Craigslist.
Got my rack, bar and set of weights for $250.
>>40605267
yep, have the same bar and weights. got one of their squat racks as well. picked up some adjustable dumbells and a bench (from someone else as rogue was wayyyyy overpriced)
>>40605054
Go to a used sporting good store in the rich people side of town.
I bought an oly bar and 4 plates for $100
Just get a pair of adjustable dumbbells. There is a 200 pound pair in amazon for $185.
Also you can make a pull up bar and parallel bars out of PVC. Get a dip belt then your possibilities are endless.

I wanted r3 but went with replica titan t3. There adjustable bench is insane price too. Eventually i wanna replace my rack and bench with rogues but had to keep cost down. Love the weights and bar though. I looked into rogues change plates as none of the weight sets come with 2.5 or 5lb weights. Rogue wanted about 40buck for 5lb rubber weights. Fuck that bought a pair for ten bucks from dicks sporting goods
>>40605536
yeah.... i figured i was spending money already and wanted it all at once so i got 2.5 and 5 change plates from rogue. should have bought elsewhere but its too late now.
need to get a weight tree but its like 100+
>>40605577
Nice. They are definitely sweet though. Cool thing is now you have shit you can have people get you for birthdays/Christmas and what have you.
>>40605988
I still need to put together a platform, but that looks nice dude.
Is that the bowflex adjustable dumbell in the corner there? I have the same pair if so
>>40605256
I've been going to my gym for 3 years, and I've spent about that much on my membership. I wish I had the space to invest in a home gym, cause I'm basically throwing money away right now
>>40606008
Yea I need to build one too and yea they are. Not sure if I like them though. Sometimes they are too bulky and limit my ROM or I will bounce them off my head or leg. I prefer my standard dumbell set but the bow flex one is he'll of lot quicker and easier

the length is definitely strange when doing some exercises.
gets in the way during curls and delt flies most noticeably.
