Start pausing at the bottom (when it's resting on your chest) with 60 lbs total. Count to three, then press it up. If you can get 7 reps this way,,, add a 2 1/2 lbs plate to each side and repeat.

Also,,, do dumbell presses, but keep one arm extended while the other arm lowers the weight. Have someone spot you the first couple times because you don't want to smash your face.

Wrong.
I started with the bar, doing linear progress I got ro 1pl8 in about 3 months. But I did have an unrelated injury and some pauses due to traveling so 2 months solid would probably get you there if you stick to the program and eat well.

I agree with you, it's very sad. Happily you can change that by eating and lifting.
