Any of you have any experience with intermediate lifting programs? Like Madcow 5x5, Bill Star 5x5 or Texas method? Which one you prefer?
Madcow is effective for me but don't get greedy. Those overloaded weeks add up fast. Deload a bit before you injure your shit. Run progression for 6-8 weeks at most if you're feeling beat up.
What's up with the 5x5 meme? Takes forever.
I do PHUL with 4x8-12 on volume days and 3x3 on intensity days.

I'm doing Bill Star 5x5 now. I like it, but I wish I deadlifted more than once a week

It's ramped up 5x5 so it doesn't take as long as 5x5 with same weight.

ah that makes more sense
did TM for a while and kinda hated it

sorry I just try and add weight weekly and/or reps to volume days. no carefully-planned periodization.

C6W was very good for lower body and squats but it really sucks for bench.

I did TM after finishing SS. It's really brutal after the first few weeks, and I understand why it's only recommended for young males who want to be competitive lifters. The gains are pretty good if you're willing to eat and rest enough, but mentally and physically it's very tough.
io really liked madcows for bench. I also did high volume on OHP days and it broke my plateau from 200 until I hit 230. Then I hurt my shoulder.
