I started counting calories with myfitnesspall for tracking and meal prepping the evening meals. If you can stand the monotone eating patterns then you should just do that.
my average day goes something like this
breakfast: milk, oats and protein powder -347kcal
lunch: green tea, piece of fruit +/- 60kcal (on gym day: Greek yogurt, protein powder-370kcal)
dinner: potatoes, broccoli, chicken 348kcal
snack: green tea, piece of fruit +/- 60kcal
(on non gym day: Greek yogurt, protein powder in the evening b4 bed -370kcal)
with my target of 1600kcal i still have around 400kcal of wiggle room to eat stuff I fancy
For supplements I follow recommended by sticky Fish oil and Vitamin D3. I recently added some green tea extract pills for the weight loss meme
