Yes, weight does matter. That's why there's weight classes. But remember that weight classes are created on the basis that everyone is a fighter. There are weight divisions to make things fair.

There's a lot more factors that come into play when it comes to fights. It's not just size and skill. There are stuff like the fighter's stamina, endurance, and etc. If you're huge but don't have as much stamina you can easily gas out and your opponent can take advantage of that.

Though I am going to say that if a huge dude and a small fighter were in an elevator the bigger person would obviously win. The fighter just wouldn't have any space.
