Vast majority of people experience diminished returns beyond .8 gr/lbs bodyweight. The nuclear gas is what happens when you max out the volume of protein your gut can absorb in a given time. You might be able to combat it by adjusting how much you take in a sitting if you're consuming substantially more than, say 20 gr protein per meal.
