Does anyone else feel lower back pain doing sit ups? I've read that it might be improper form but i tried it all, i can't do more than 20. Are there any good replacements?

your spinal erectors are weak. start doing back extensions
>>
Stop doing sit ups in the first place. They're a waste of time.
You won't get a big chest doing 100 pushups a day. You wont get a strong core doing 100 sit ups either.

But to answer your question, yes. I had that problem too, when I first started. It was because I was really fat.
>>
Stop doing sit-ups or crunches
They hurt your back because they aren't good for your back

Replace with planks, pikes, and other isometrics that don't flex the spine

What do you do for core?

Russian twists, side plank twists, penguin touches, hanging leg raises

What he said. The general rule is that you want to be able to get a strong range of motion and be able to add resistance.

Im a fan of decline sit ups and decline russian twists. I can hold a weight and do a challenging couple of sets of 8-12 reps, rather than endlessly doing bullshit.

Check out Athlean-x on youtube. All his videos look like click bait, but that's the point. He's easily one of the most knowledgeable people I've seen on the internet fitness scene. You'll learn a lot. He has a ton of videos dedicated to core work.

>Replace with planks

not op. planks dont work. my hands go spagetti but absolutely cant feel abs at all. sit up is the only exercise where i feel my abs.
>>
>>40468040
That's not the fault of planks
Don't go around telling people planks don't work just because they don't for you

Besides that, "feeling" it is irrelevant. Keep your lower back flat, pull your abs in, and your core will be working on a plank.
