This is an in progress description and is subject to change. future OPs please add or refine anything you can when making a new thread.

What is /fatgen/: fat newer members of /fit/ who want to start eating right and losing pounds.
Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get though it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it
>>
>>40439447
This makes me happy I am glad this is continuing
>>
You should start numbering them, it'd be pretty neat to say "I started during thread #x, this is me now during thread #y".
>>
>>40439502
"This was me during thread #1, I was 173kg."
"Here I am, 5 months later, at 175kg"
>>
>>40439502
that could become a large number, but this is the first official thread, so if the next OP wants to call it #2 i don't see a problem with it
>>
>>40439502

Good idea! This is thread #2 for future reference
>>
>>40439447
I thought the gen name would be /fatty/

That's kind of whats been happening the past week or so when it wasn't quite official
>>
>>40439524
>>40439539
It's decided. This is thread #1 (#2)
>>
>>40439547
LMAO

It's the first official one true but the last one felt like the true first one
>>
>>40439447
For the description I don't think it necessarily has to say "newer" members of /fit/ There's a lot of fattys here who have been losing weight for months and are still fat
>>
>>40439545
i just made it before the other one archived, i wasn't thinking i guess.
>>40439580
That will be thread #0

(Already posted this on another thread, so if it looks similar to something you already read, then you know why)

Hello! I'm a 170 cm, 110 kg hispanic 18 year old living in Costa Rica, could someone here please help me get my weight down? I would like it to be around 75 kg, apart from the information posted before I will give you some (probably) useful information below

>To mantain this weight TDEE calculators have calculated that ~2500 is what I need to ingest every day

>My BMR is 2088 cal/day

>I have been making 10 squats, 10 sit ups, and 10 push ups every day for about a week now

>I have been eating like 1500 cal/day for about a week now

>Am too poor to afford gym membership

>I have a stationary bike and today I made about 30 min (sitting) at the highest speed I could go

>My diet is heavily prominent in proteins (meat, eggs, lactose, etc...) bread (whole wheat bread), rice (white, cooked in rice cooker), coffe (1-2 cups/day), and assorted veggies and fruit (lettuce, tomatoes, apples, etc...)

What should I do? Thanks in advance
>>
>>40439595
I debated that, you're right. we can iron out the details for the next thread
>>
>>40439447

How much water do you all drink in a day? I drink 2-3 liters a day and I am peeing constantly. How do you cope?
>>
>>40439607
you get used to it. if your pee is clear you are drinking a little too much at once and should slow down.
>>
>>40439603

What do you specifically need to know about? Everything you're doing seems fine
>>
>go from 350 to 200
>have been stuck at 200 since fucking july
>wasnt able to count calories because reasons
>ended up going back up to damn near 215 over the holiday
>finally move out of my last shitty job, into one where the housing actually has a stove and lets me cook food for myself
>go from almost 215 to 205-209 depending on when I weigh myself
>tfw finally starting to make progress again
>tfw no muscle mass
>tfw can't fucking build any muscle mass when I'm cutting
>tfw 20-30 lbs to lose before I can finally, mercifully, stop cutting and start gaining muscle

It's a complicated sort of feel.

I'm so close but so far, brehs.
>>
Went from 175cm 86kg to 70kg on a 1200kcal diet, not disgustingly fat anymore but still quite chubby.

Gonna be cycling 3-4 times a week now and just started the reddit Bodyweightfitness routine (3x a week).
I was thinking about upping my calories to 1800 a day with plenty protein, would that be enough to not hinder my training progress while still losing weight/bodyfat?
>>
>>40439642

I would want to know any recomendations about diet, exercise, and generally how to lose weight... Also, if you are good with people a little help with any of that would be very appreciated, thanks!
>>
>>40439656
How long did it take you to lose the weight?
That's where I am right now and 200 is my goal for now
>>
>>40439656
>wasnt able to count calories because reasons
>>
>>40439606

"/fatty/ is a general thread for all the obese and overweight people on /fit/ who need advice and moral support to keep losing pounds.

We all know how hard it is to unlearn unhealthy habits and commit to bettering ourselves. This is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it."

Every time you initiate a conversation/interaction with someone (or the other way around) look them in the eyes and give them a little smile.
Don't stare at them while grinning over your whole face like a retard, just short and subtle.
Most people are going to be a lot more positive towards you.

Thats all I have.

If you're going from not moving whatsoever then start small and do the stationary bike for like 30-60 min 4 times a week. Cardio is whats most important to lose weight. You can do pushups and squats and whatnot to warmup/cool down

Drink water!!! Sleep regularly, meal prep, healthy snacks

Thread #1 (#2?) would be a good place to start, so why the hell not. I'm 6'1", 220lbs. I went to the gym for the first time in about a decade today, and basically all I did was use a cycling machine for a while. I plan to start lifting when I head out again tomorrow. What exercises should I do? Advice?
>>
>>40439447
Fat people have dulled senses. This is reason enough alone to lose weight and get healthy. You will see, smell, hear and taste everything much better.
>>
>>40439793
Yeah I mean processed carbs like pasta and bread

Eat complex carbs anons
>>
>>40439680
About two years.
>>
>>40439794
Good for you anon!

I don't lift much so I can only advise you on cardio stuff so how long did you use the bike for?
>>
>>40439794
Squats. I'd also try a couple sets of assisted dips, it'll be hard the first time but it's a lot easier the next time

Try Mr. Rippetoe's intro to strength. make sure to do 5 minutes warm up on a cycling machine before anything. worry about your form before how much you can lift.
>>
>>40439794
>cycling machine

There's a reason they put all the treadmills and cycles in the front of gyms, it attracts retard people who want to lose weight but then stop coming and even they could just get a bike or run outside instead.

To make the most out of your gym use weights and learn to squat, it's the best exercise.
>>
>>40439728
>all my sneakers have torn under the pressure of my gigantic calves

kek
>>
>>40439794
stronglifts or starting strength are the best noob lifter programs. once you get them sweet noob strength gains and dat nice technique you can go on to aesthetics routines. hell you can even make your own routine, shit isnt hard unless your an autist pler who needs crazy efficient workouts/recovery
>>
>>40439832
50 minutes (gym was nearly empty, I'm aware of how hoggish that is), stopped at 10 miles.
>>
>>40439844

This guy doesn't look like obese so I don't know if this applies but for like huge fattys elliptical and bikes are good to reduce pressure on joints and limit injury yes?

>>
>>40439861

I wouldn't worry about how hoggish it looks especially for the cardio machines. 30-60 minutes is pretty normal on those.
>>
>>40439714

Thank you! Really! Your tip will be used, I assure you
>>
>>40439869
>>40439844
i think it's an okay primer. i did just cardio until i got a plan so i wouldn't become inactive and blow it off
>>
>>40439889

>>
>>40439925
>there are a lot of the same kind of machine open

No you're fine.
>>
>>40439759
Wrong.

Lifting burns more calories than cardio. Your body is perfectly designed for going long distances without using a lot of energy. Lifting heavy stuff not so much.

>Hate having this gut belly.

i hate my double chin. but every day it gets marginally smaller
>>
>>40439851
Did some research on stronglifts, but that only has me working out 3 times a week, with 4 rest days. That seems like a lot of rest time for 135 minutes a week of exercising. Can I still work out during that rest time, or should I be doing nothing in the gym?
>>
>>40439992
>experience
im gonna go ahead and say i dont believe you
>>
>>40440008
That's fine. And yes you can exercise a little to focus on specific muscles but 3 times a week 4 rest days is average and great for beginners.
>>
>>40440013
I noticed this too. I'm not sure if it's widespread enough to generalize like they did but my own senses sharpened as I got more fit. Especially taste and smell when I ditched most processed carbs and sugary stuff.

Downside: wow, so many people smell bad.
>>
>>40440008
gaining strength and muscle is more about intensity and volume. as a beginner you'll be increasing one of these variables at a time. namely intensity through adding 10 lb to your compounds every day that you can. shit gets you tired af and u need the recovery time. i think you can still do cardio on rest days. just dont do really intense stuff like more lifting or sprinting or whatnot
>>
>>40440044
So stuff like cycling would be fine?
>>
>>40440053
as long as it's not before you lift (except 5 minute warmup) and intense as fuck as that anon said.
>>
Hit a weight loss plateau. Been dieting 1500 cals a day, eating a lot of protein, exercising by doing squats and push ups. I'm 285 pounds.

No. Buy a food scale. This violates the laws of physics. Don't say it is right, just accept that it is wrong and look for the reason. There is no human being in the entire fucking world, no genetically anomalous Sherpa... nothing, no one, anywhere - that won't lose weight with the formula you posted.

Alright? So like I said, you are not measuring your food the right way. If you honestly believe that you are doing it truthfully, they you have multiple personality disorder - which is a real thing, and you honestly are blacking out the parts where you eat. Put a camera in your kitchen or something.

2600 with 3-5 exercise days a week, wich seems pretty high to me.
I know the general rule is TDEE-500 but I doubt I'd lose weight at reasonable speed with 2100kcal a day.

>>40441246
Upping the calories slowly would be a good idea, but how do I know if I am fatigued because I eat too little or just because I am an unfit fatty?
I'd hate to work out with no/little effect because of my diet.
>>
>>40441299

Good a place as any for an opinion. Me currently, 6' 3" @ ~240LB x 15%, fairly broad frame. Still looks like a gut. 5X week HIIT exercise, decent overall, but not sure how far to cut to. Thoughts?
>>
>>40441319
try increasing it for a week to 2100.
It could be your metabolism reacting and slowing down. that's usually how a plateau works. If you gain weight or it stagnates after that then try lowering it if possible.

I'm rooting for you anon, you are at one of the hard bridges into losing weight, a plateau is very upsetting, but you'll overcome it if you have patiences
>>
>>40441319
You will be fatigued but if you are still losing between 1 and 2 pounds per week average, you'll know the eating is right. Jumping up to 1800 will almost for sure be too much because your newbie workouts won't be intense enough to cover that. If you add calories slowly you'll never be out of the weight loss loop rather than adding them to 1800 only to discover that you need to reduce them again. If tired and losing faster than 2 pounds per week for more than 2-3 weeks, add some more calories.
>>
>>40441458
I'm not the plateau guy, thats >>40440162.
I lost 16kg already on 1200kcal/day while being mostly sedentary, want to lose another ~5-8kg but add sports and don't know how to adjust my diet.

is white rice really that bad?

i've been eating like 200g (cooked) every day and i've lost like 18lbs this month. if it fits my calories, what exactly is the problem?

it's cheap, easy to make in microwave rice cooker and goes well with chicken and beef

i simply cannot afford to eat half a kg of chicken a day
>>
>>40441631
>is white rice really that bad?
Its not. You just shouldn't eat 1000kcals worth of rice when you are trying to lose weight like >>40441195
>>
Was 370+ at my heaviest. Now i'm 240 and still losing 5lbs+ per week. Consume 1k to 1.5k calories a day. I do cardio 4 times a week and lift dumb bells 6 days a week (basic bitch upper body routine i got off youtube). My upper body is always sore, my legs hurt from the cardio but I press on. I'm 32 years old now, It's only going to get harder the older I get. Plus my wife wants kids, how the hell can I raise healthy kids if i'm the size of a fucking planet.

Another plus is my wife works out with me, she only had 15lbs to drop and got that in a month. She fits into her old cheerleader gear from college again.

We all are gonna make it bros
>>
>>40441672
Damn dude, my goal weight is 140. You lost like an entire human worth of fat, thats impressive.

Not to sound like an asshole but that also makes me really happy that I made the cut last year when I approached 200lbs at 20 years old.
I don't know if I had the willpower to lose that much weight, seems like an endless task, but you are pretty much there man.
>>
>>40441712
You don't sound like an asshole. I wish I did this shit right out of college. Thats when I started putting on weight. I played college ball (well i warmed the bench anyways) and had full accesse to the gym and trainers and had fake classes setup that was a cover for gym time. Once I got out of school and got less and less activie as i set into normal adult lift i got fatter and fatter because I was still eating 5k calories a day.

I was delusional, i didn't think i was that fat and thought I was a cut and 2 weeks of gym time away from being as fit as I was in college. Read some texts from my mother inlaw to my wife that I wasn't meant to read and I got a realtiy check.
>>
Just in case there are any super-fats lurking in here, you can just start a cutting diet with no exercise if you are not fit enough to do any yet. It's ok, you'll lose and then you'll be able to start exercising. Baby steps.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. Diet is most important thing for weight loss.

Is 1k-1.2k too low of a cut? I'm looking to cut down on a quite a bit of weight. I don't think it'd be difficult for me to cut that restrictively, I'm asking more so if it'd even be healthy.
MyFitnessPal doesn't recommend you cut below 1.4k for instance.

If you are well over 25% bodyfat as a man and 40% as a woman then you are obese.

At this point ANY diet as long as you get your needed macro and micronutrients will work. Period.
Losing the weight is more important MORE IMPORTANT then fucking anything else at this point.

The second most important thing when it comes to weight loss is, say it with me kids, MAINTENANCE! As a matter of fact, since weight loss is so goddamned simple and easy, maintenance is THE most important thing to learn.

>Try and report back with your results.
>5 push ups (regular or modified to knee push-ups or wall push-ups as needed)
Normal pushups i tried, doesnt work, can barely go halfway and get up, if i go down like normal pushups i cant get back up, even at halfway arms sake.
I tried diagonal pushups using a desk, they were kinda hard but was possible
Wall push ups were way easier
>5 floor sliding pull ups or door handle pull ups
That was kinda hard, i was able to pull myself up but had a big issue pushing myself backwards
>5 knee raises
No problem with that
>5 dips
Couldnt really do that because i didnt have any place that is high enough for me to stand on, and similar to pushups i can stay up for some time and go a little down but nowhere near the required normal level
>5 squats
No problem with that
>10 standing elbow to knee exercises
No problem with that, though i dont always seem to manage to touch my knee with my elbow
>One or more 20 second plank(s)
Easy, usually start shaking after 7-9 seconds but can get to 20sec without much trouble
>20 small arm circles, forward, then reverse
easy, gets a little hard at the end
>20 large arm circles, forward then reverse
Easy, though upper muscle, i think deltoid makes it harder around midway, just need to focus more to not fuck up the exercise
>Without more than 2 minute rest in between each set?
Tried with around 30 sec rest, just relaxed a little before moving on to next set and then next exercise because someone said you have to be continuously exercising so metabolism can wake up

Also another issue, it was morning and havent eaten anything, but for some reason i felt like vomiting a little(that feeling in the throat, didnt vomit) after i finished and took a shower.

Anyway, i was able to do most of those without many problems, exercises with legs were easier since i always carry 120kg with me.

But it only took me like 30-35 minutes, i would really like it if you could suggest some more exercises, which 1st thou

Start of February I just realized I'm obese (175cm, 115kg) and balding at 26 years old - I cannot be both, so I decided to get /fit/. Already shaved my head off and quit smoking 2 weeks ago. I need to move more desu

you guys should definetly lift while cutting, I didn't lift and didn't care about my protein when I lost 100 pounds and ended up skinnyfat, I did look a whole new person but the lack of muscle fucked me up. You will regret not lifting when you realise how much muscle you couldhave kept/gained in this period of time.
>>
>>40443172
I dunno why you guys get upset over eating like shit every now and then.

I've dropped from 310 to 220 and just the other weekend I ate an entire large pizza to myself. Does it slow down your progress? Yes, absolutely. Should you eat like that every day? Obviously not.
But every now and then wont kill you, nor will it completely kill progress. Just keep up your diet the next day, cut an extra 100-200 calories every day that week.
>>
>>40443679
Depends on the person. If doing a very low carb/keto plan, it takes a few days to get back into ketosis so if they do cheats too often it undermines the whole process. Some people do better with eliminating the foods that cause them cravings. Some can't just cheat a little, it turns to a binge. Some do better eliminating the whole 'food as reward' concept.
>>
>>40442712

Today, do the same thing, adding repetitions as you can, try to double everything, except do the planks 30 seconds each, multiple times. Record how many extra reps of each exercise you can do. This will become your baseline and you will add reps.
I'll research something to replace the dips.
Check if you have any muscle soreness. You should work through it but it can make things harder, reps fewer, you'll just have to test.

Get your diet plan started today, this is critical, you won't lose weight without it. What are you doing for your diet? Use the sticky to calculate your TDEE. This exercise program is 'light exercise' or 'moderately active'. Make your diet "TDEE -500 calories" and don't worry about macros yet. Cut out fast food, snack food, sodas, sweets, you'll need all the calories for health foods.

add 10 lunges, each leg.
Try a wall sit for 10-30 seconds.
Can you do jumping jacks? If so, add 10-25.
Can you do burpees? How many?

I will suggest a additional exercises later today, I'm just trying to get an idea of your capability, you want to work at close to your capacity but for everything to be do-able daily.

Also, when someone takes time to help you, it's customary to thank them.
>>
>>40442199
How long have you sustained that 1.4k cut level and how much are you losing per week?
If you have quite a bit to lose, you want to lose 2 pounds per week but not necessarily faster. You want to keep your energy level good so you can keep on going until you hit your goal and also prevent sagging skin as much as possible.

the reason you have the urge to binge is because you aren't eating enough calories. Assuming a normal height you should probably eat around 2000-2400 kcal. There is a tdee calculator in the sticky and just take -500 of that.
>>
>>40444748

Well if a gym isn't something you can use then it might be worth investing in weights overtime.

If you're younger and live at home ask your parents if you can get a gym membership, they'll probably pay for it if they believe you are dedicated enough.

If you don't live at home, i'd avoid curls right at the moment, because you can fuck up your body over working your arms. There are options though. You can purchase a stepper with some extra risers. They don't take up much space and can act as a bench, as long as your elbows don't hit the ground. Also invest in a barbell with weights for squats which are a fantastic exercise. it might take you a while to buy these items but it would be worth it in the long run
>>
Former /fit/ here. Well it's been 6 months out of my abusive relationship and I'm starting to plateau on my weight loss. It's not discouraging, I'm just realising I've got a lot of emotional scars that directly fuck up my weight loss goals. When I was 115kg, it didn't impact that much, but now I'm 90kg it's getting harder to keep pushing down. Little things like when I get stressed throwing diet out and getting bakery goods (pies, sausage rolls, etc) as that's was the coping method my ex would push on me. Or drinking on my off days because "I don't know what else to do to escape" when she started getting abusive.

Either way, sob story aside.

I had a terrible realization today, and a real wakeup call.

I've lost a good amount of weight in the last year. Creeping up on 110 pounds now. But I only recently started tracking EVERYTHING I eat, all my macros and stuff.

I realized that I was drinking over 3 gallons of water a day. 3 fucking gallons.

I think I've been using water as my guilt free form of gluttony. I drink water constantly as a way of consuming something, just like I used to do with food.

I haven't changed anything about myself. I'm still a glutton who wants to consume, consume, consume.

I need a fundamental lifestyle change.
>>
>>40445193
bullshit there is no way that you can drink 12 fucking liters of water a day and not die.
>>
>>40445193
First step is identifying the problem, and not in some vague way. You've managed to pinpoint a flaw in your character, and now you have to make the decision to address the issue. If you've managed to have discipline and dedication to lose 110 and build healthy habits like tracking what you eat, it shouldn't be a herculean effort to fix yourself. You're still making progress.
>>
>>40445244
I wish I was joking. I have a half gallon jug that I fill 3-4 times a day when I'm at home, and I drink probably 4 8 ounce bottles of water at work, and half a carafe of coffee every day. I counted it all up and it ranges between 3-4 gallons on most days.

Non fat here but my 2 cents:

No, it isn't "like 1500" it should be "at or below 1500 because I track my calories for everything". That's how you lose weight.

Eat more chicken and veggies, and track it all. Do you have measuring cups? Use those. I'd say get a food scale but

So i tried to do the same and the things you suggested and managed to do pic related this evening, in that exact order, plank unlike the morning i barely managed to get to 13-15 secs, i think the morning one was longer because it was around the start of the exercises.

Yeah i have muscle soreness, mostly on arms in the morning for the first 2-3 hours, after that it was barely noticeable, now i feel a lesser amount of soreness on my legs as well.

But once again i got this annoying nauseous feeling where you feel like vomiting around the end.

Diet seems ok but it isnt so easy to calculate because i dont cook the food though i have reduced the portions around almost half and based on random calculations it seems to be way smaller and avoid breads/sweets/sugary stuff etc. For example today i ate 2 medium meatballs(around 2.5 small meatballs of the size that can be picked up with a toothpick) and half a potato, both in the oven, a banana and later in the evening 2 more medium meatballs. I have no idea what macros are.

>Burpees
Nope.jpg

Using tdee with light exercise i get 3322 with moderate i get 3745

And thanks for the help, sorry, get lost in the details and thinking about all that.

2) do this every day for a month

But I don't think that's a great idea actually. The colors seem to correspond roughly to muscle group, split the colors in two groups, alternate between the two groups every day.

Yes

>>40445925
>:)
>>
>>40445577
Ok, good, you are starting to hit the wall and fail at some exercises, that's good to test things out.
Back off the reps a little and repeat the same 2-set routine tomorrow and the next day. Do the planks first, jumping jacks half way through, the rest as you can.
Add some jumping jacks every day if you can. Even a few.
Assess your soreness before and after working out.

Do this 6 days/week, choose one day to rest.

That TDEE seems quite high, but I'd need to see your numbers to sort it out.

You need to add fibrous green veggies to your diet. Perhaps a multivitamin too.
What is the most difficult thing for you to avoid in your diet and what are some salads and veggie side dishes you can/will eat daily?

The nauseated feeling could be change in blood pressure, overheating, going on empty stomach, lots of things. Even from going couch potato to starting workout. If you don't actually vomit or faint, you should be ok. If you do either, see the doctor and fully explain the situation. Otherwise, just sit safely till the feeling passes. Sipping water or weak tea with mint can help.

If you plan on lifting to be more attractive, I hope youre the faggot you look like, because you have a lot more to work on than your body if you plan on attracting girls.

As for actual advice, read the sticky m8. Sounds like you have no clue what you're talking about. There is no "going out and buying a healthy meal." Make it yourself. You want to know what's in it. Most things you can go out and buy are either really unhealthy, or really expensive. Likely both.

One thing you sticky wont tell you is to get a decent hair cut. I honestly wouldnt have known if you were male or female if not for the fact you didnt censor your boobs. That, or censor your tits. This is a blue board, you androgynous fuck.

Don't fall for the body dysmorphia meme

Take pictures regularly so you can see the progress you're making. Also measure with a measuring tape for the same reason.

Also, learn to take a compliment. If someone says that you're looking good tell them thank you. If you're so inclined you can even say "Its a work in progress" but don't be that asshole who can't take a compliment.

I do agree about the pressuring to eat high calorie foods just politely decline.

You made a good start. What was your dinner? Diet is most important and is hardest to control if you aren't cooking yourself. You should consider doing a cut and starting to lift as outlined in the sticky. You are out of shape and have some pounds to lose but you aren't that bad off.

i really want to meal prep but all i have is a single cooking plate and a pizza oven. Also have no containers and little space in general because my appartment is a mess. As a result i'm eating a bunch of canned soups and other canned stuff.

This might sound autistic but i'm kinda happy that my apartment is a mess. Losing weight motivates me to clean my apartment, and the visible improvement of my apartment motivates me to eat less calories.
>>
>>40447966
What vegetables in particular do you dislike? All of them? When was the last time you tried certain ones? If you established a hate for them in your youth then you may like certain ones more as you've grown older.

A lot of the time it's about preparation too, roasted veg with some salt and olive oil tastes pretty great (though /fit/ prefers steaming and boiling), if you're trying to lose weight, anything's better than big macs, though you should be keeping sub-1500 cal per-day

Try different veg too, you never know what might pique your interest. I never tried asparagus until I was 20, now it's one of my favourites.

1500kcal is a retarded suggestion. Like always calculate your tdee and -500 of that or up to -25% of your tdee. For a lot of fattys this will be way more than 1500. There is no point in losing weight as quickly as possible if they can't sustain that amount of weightloss.

Yes, once per day for a week then you'll see about adding more exercises, increasing sets, adjusting plank and wall sit times etc.
Report in daily if you like, it can keep you motivated.

I calculated for you here
https://www.iifym.com/tdee-calculator/
And got TDEE of 2628 so subtract 500 calories and it means you should eat no more than 2128 calories per day max.
BMI shows 39.6, obese class 2

You need green/colorful veg for vitamins and fiber. They can keep you from getting hungry. You can research both of these.

Cukes and iceberg are ok but romaine is better than iceberg lettuce. What about broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, peppers etc?
Bananas are very high in carbs and sugars, are there other fruits you like instead?
I know it's more difficult when someone else is cooking but if at home, other family members probably need to eat better and if it's mom cooking, she should take at least some request.

Yeah i have a bad relationship with most green vegetables outside of cucumbers, iceberg, romaine and carrots, those i can eat, some others like cauliflower and broccoli it is nope.

I dont usually have an issue with fruits, i like most of the it usually depends of availability, what kind of fruits are more healthy?

And yeah, she is the one cooking for 3 other people so she cant make diet only things, she might try to cook more chicken and other healthy things but not always, going to be fish fingers for example tomorrow.

My main issue though is when it is hard to calculate the calories in some foods

In 2013, I weighed 390lbs at 6'7". Got to 240 through a strict diet and cardio, but in 2016 I shot back up to 280. Went back on the diet, got to 270, then got a trainer to get me pointed in the right direction when it comes to weight lifting. However, I'm starting to think that the diet recommendations he's got for me are a bit off.

I was eating around 1800kcal a day when I was dieting, but he's bumping me up to 2600 on workout days. I get that, you burn energy lifting, but over the past two week of sessions and personal gym days, I've gained 4 pounds, 1% body fat and no muscle gains.

Not trying to say I'm a special snowflake, but I must be doing something wrong. I've been measuring my food meticulously, but I never used to have much in the way of fruit, and now he's got me mixing a shake for mornings with fruit, peanut butter and the like. Also a lot more brown rice in my diet than usual.

I dunno. I think I'll just keep lifting and see if it pans out, but it's worrying me a bit.

Biggest problem to me (once I decided to lose weight) wasnt keeping myself motivated. The biggest problem was making a diet and workout plans and to be honest I still dont. The sticky helped but I didnt understand some parts and how to use some things and what to cook so I dont eat just veggies that taste awful after months of eating them in the same way.

More knowledge about weight loss and training gave me more motivation.

Also at first I would workout and eat a little meal per day so I was kind of starving and everyone said that wasnt good thing to do - anyone know why? I mean if im losing weight it gets the job done.

mentally though, i'm in a bad state. recently i've randomly started laughing really hard in public for no reason, and i listen to static/white noise in my free time.

>>
>>40448820
Eat some of those veggies every day, you can reduce your portions of other less-healthy things in favor of the extra veggies to still feel full.

Mom can maybe give you cooked meat with no sauce or breading sometimes, preparing a little extra regular chicken or beef when she makes them for other dishes is same amount of work/time.

Berries are lowest in sugar followed by melons.

Fucking hell guys. I don't know what to do.

5'11". I started at 331 in july. Now, I'm 260 give or take a few pounds. But the problem is that I've been stuck at 260 or right abouts for almost 2 months now. I don't how to keep going.

I need to be more consistent with my diet, but it's getting harder as my intake shrinks. I'm sorely missing the wiggle room I had at 290, to eat a good lunch, a massive fucking dinner, and still be at a 1000 calorie defecit.

Now, if I want to maintain a -1000cal cut, I've gotta be eating like 1700 calories a day. And even if I do make it past this hurdle, I'm going to be staring down the barrel of diminishing returns, lest I drop below 1500, but that's no good.

What do guys? I've come so far, yet I still have so far to go

>>40445380
How long have you been on Biphasic sleep?

What does /fatgen/ stand for? Anywho, my bmi is 38. I'm hoping to lose 80-100 pounds. In 2 weeks, I've lost 4 pounds. It's a little bit hard sometimes. I'm incredibly weak. Can't do push ups or back back bends. Knees give me some trouble ever since I got into a motorcycle accident years ago. I haven't been able to do lunges or similar motions since then. I'm hoping losing fat and strengthening my legs will help, though.

For a long time I thought I was just chubby, but then I saw myself in a video and couldn't believe it. There are so many people who are fatter than me, so I figured I was good. Even now, people insist that I'm not fat and I'm only chubby. I'm determined to make it.
>>
>>40449373
Yeah, you're right. I might have to change some shit up in diet. I cook for myself and my roommate because he's an autistic manbaby who runs a risk of setting the apartment on fire, let alone actually cooking anything worth eating outside of spaghetti.

But because of that, I can't just eat the /fit/ staple diet every night, because we split the bill for groceries, so even though he literally never cooks, I don't know how well I can leverage our grocery bill being spent on only chicken, broccoli, and brown rice. If I was by myself I wouls already have done this, with the occasional salmon thrown in, but the fucker is retarded autistic about literally anything that comes from the ocean.

I'm gonna take some time tomorrow and work on a good OP for these threads. People keep making the same mistakes over and over. Not calculating their tdee properly, Cutting too much calories, not weighing their portions, just eating smaller portions of junkfood instead of eating healthy, focusing too much on their weight especially once progress slows down.
>>
>>40442177

If you want to do bodyweight fitness most of the trainings have progression. For example if you can't do push-ups you can start with incline or wall pushups.
>>
>>40449476
I really like the guy. But he makes cooking so fucking hard. I want to just fucking nut up and let his ass cook the food for a bit just so I don't have to worry about it.

The only problem is that it's inefficient as fuck for us two buy two separate sets of food each time. Like, I fucking love seafood, but I can never eat the shit because I can't justify spending extra money on it by myself, since it won't get split for the bill.

How would you approach this, given my position?

I could just start saying, "you cook", and see what happens. But we've already bought shit for these next 2 weeks that he would be over his head trying to cook and most likely torch the place.

My next thought is that next time we go to the store, we divide shit for meals up into shit, I'll cook, and he chooses shit for meals he'll cook. This however, doesn't solve the problem of eating garbage for dinner, because anything his ass picks out and is capable of cooking is going to consist of,

>no fresh meats whatsoever.
>no sauteed veggies, and most likely no vegetables at all.
>most likely pasta and store bought sauce.
>literally sandwiches.

why pool the money? you buy your shit, he buys his shit, whats so hard about that?
>>
>>40441303

>>
>>40449673
Yeah you've got the situation right. The issue with that proposition is that money is tight as fuck and it's way more efficient to buy enough food for 10-12 meals for 2 than it is to buy the same amount of meals per person each. Wait, as I'm typing this I think I redpilled myself

Assuming I'm just eating the same thing every night, it would would probably end up being cheaper to buy that shit for myself, and just going,, than to pay for my half of what we buy currently. Surely I can buy 2 weeks worth of chicken breast, brown rice and broccoli/asparagus for less than $50 right? That's what my half of the bill has been per two weeks on average.

So if that's the case, and doing what I'd like to do is actually going to save me money, then I have all the leverage I need right?

Solid, looks like plan is in order. Thanks for helping me be less retarded.

As a sidenote, how do you prepare your chicken breast? I have a couple of ways, but one lacks flavor, and the other increases calories significantly.

I think its sad that is cheaper to eat fat trash food than something that is good for you.

Don't forget you can still have fun and eat a little bit more than you should.

Weight loss is a continuous process, it takes time and not having a bit of birthday cake and whatever doesn't make that much of a difference. In the end what is a another week or two to reach your goal just so you can have some fun.

Also, any other former fatties find it annoying all everyone talks about is how much weight you lost?

this. i have my brother's wedding a bachelor party in May, i'm not going to avoid family just because i might eat a little worse than normal. My real concern is the gym, but i think i'll manage since i can go with one of my brothers
