You grow when you recover from training, not when you train.
Look at how often dorian yates trained.

Then consider that almost nobody who trained more than him got as big (certainly nobody who trains as much as you specified)

I don't know how people do it, i weight train 4 times a week for an hour at a time and run about 3-4 hours a week (marathon training) and I struggle to recover between workouts.

Either I'm a pussy with shit recovery or those other people aren't training properly.
