Expired vitamins ok? A couple months old. Everything I find says it's a scam by companies to get you to buy more.
I guess you found your answer then, bud.
Vitamins are are not efficiently absorbed to begin with. You're not getting anywhere near the % it says on the bottle. By taking expired vitamins you're just increasing the chance the pill you're taking is even less effective than it is unexpired.
The expiration date is usually a date where at least 95 % of the product is still active (depends on the product and by country). This means that there could be still almost 100 % of the product left. The companies just don't want to take risks, if someone bought them and would perform analysis to find out there's less than the desired amount they could be sued or some shit.
TL;DR Vitamins don't really expire, there could just be less of the product in the pills.

Thinking that atoms & molecules of vitamins will rearrange themselves spontaneously into something dangerous the day after an expiration date

Why are you taking vitamins in the first place? If you eat /fit/ you should get all the vitamins you need.

Not OP but I am curious as to why this is, I have heard it before.

What is /fit/ eating?

Vitamins will still act as antioxidants and absorb free radicals even if the desired nutrient just passes through the GI tract

some molecules literally do.
LSD, for example.
