This is when I realized the story was total bullshit. I had my doubts with the three legged thing, but this sealed it.
1. Nobody is on the streets of a neighborhood to see something like that, this is not the 1960s, they're inside watching TV. And even if some neighbors are out, it wouldn't be a "crowd," it would be a husband and wife on a jog
2. You could say they would come out of their house to investigate the screeching, but this also never happens, and if it did, it would only be one, maybe two families, not a "crowd"
3. You could say you live in a more urban area where people are actually in the street in front of your apartment complex or whatever, but in that case you wouldn't have a yard and the dog wouldn't be able to "get out" unless he straight broke the window or your dumbass left the door open or something, in which case fuck you for killing your dogbro through your own incompetence as a master and failing to protect him
