Pardon me for sounding stupid but since coffee has such a high content of caffeine wouldnt your body use rhe caffiene for energy rather then burning fat for energy or am i completely wrong?
>>
You're completely wrong

different source of "energy" friendo. One is actual energy measured in kcal, sourced from fat in this instance, the other is a perceived feeling of energy caused by stimulants. Upon consumption, a chemical response is triggered, and in this instance (caffeine) is caused by a flood of norepinephrine and dopamine.

Good question though friendo, have a nice day

Caffeine for energy........ Gonna have to teach me how that works mate.... Pretty sure caffeine is in no way involved in the actual use of energy by your body. How you feel it is different to it's actual function/how it is metabolised.

I'm not a biochemist though so maybe I'm wrong

Thank you

caffeine is merely a stimulant of your nervous system. it is not a source of energy.

Caffeine cannot be used for energy.

Only fats, protein, and most importantly, carbohydrates can.

Look up:

>Glycolysis (breakdown of carbs)
>Krebs Cycle (breakdown of pyruvate)
>Electron transport chain (Use of electron carriers to generate energy [ATP])
>Gluconeogenesis (protein -> carbs, glucose)
>beta-oxidation (protein -> energy)

These are the main metabolic pathways for energy.

Here is a nice site that illustrates them.

Caffeine just increases neurotransmitter release in your brain, giving you a mental alertness.
>>
The only thing that gives your body energy is ATP which is formed during metabolism of carbs/fat/protein (i.e food). It's not quite as simple as this but this is as far as the knowledge really needs to go in layman's terms.

Caffeine simply gives you the illusion of energy, or in other words it makes you energetic - you've not actually increased the amount of 'energy' available in your body.

all these caffeine addicts dodging the question and living in denial.

if youre tired and couldnt run 10k but forced yourself to do it, youd burn calories and fat. youd burn the fst from your veins and belly.

if you were tired then drank coffee then ran, your body would burn off the coffee and you would feel energetic, your body wouldn't burn off your fat or calorie reserves it would be running on the coffee splashing about your stomach. then when you step off the treadmill youre back at square 1.

This is a pretty large and juicy bit of b8. I wonder if anybody is hungry enough to take it.
