Just started my first real cut today.

Highest I've ever been is 298, prolly hit 300 who knows at one point.

Currently 194 6 foot, but I bulked now I'm cutting again back to 185.

I stopped being a fatty fat fat piece of shit by combining intermittent fasting, 2k calorie diet, proper vitamins and electrolytes, keto diet of ~10% carbs ~20% protein ~70% fat, and at least 30 minutes of cardio like swimming or stair climber 5-6 times a week with lifting.

Could you guys give me some reassurance?

I'm 6'1'' 187lbs, decently built and I'd estimate I have around 15-18% bodyfat.

I go to the gym four times a week for 1.5h per session and do light cardio (mainly long walks) a couple of times a week.

Every single calorie calculator tells me that in order to maintain my bodyweight I'd need to consume 3200 kcal a day, and in order to cut at 20% reduction I'd need to consume 2560 kcal a day. This seems way too high to me.

Can anyone here with similar specs confirm that I'll actually lose weight on a good 2500 kcal diet.

i have the exact same specs as you, as well as exercise schedule. your calculated tdee is fucking astronomical. sounds like you are not picking "sedentary" in the calculator options.

this will give you a good, base kcal value, then when you exercise, you can subtract off the calories from that workout. don't include it in the tdee calc. its too variable and hidden.

Eat less calories but make sure you eat at least 200g protein a day. It ain't magic, keep it below maintenance and you're going to lose weight. Also, training days are high carb / low fat, and rest days are high fat / low carb.

First and foremost, calculate your TDEE. Use Google to find a "TDEE calculator" (stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure).

Of course you don't *need* to eat the same foods everyday. Variation is golden (as long as basic requirements are fulfilled). But I for one find that I tend to eat almost the same foods everyday, and that makes it all a whole lot easier.

For instance where I live (Sweden) we have this thing called kvarg/quark, it's like a yoghurt but has way better macros. One box (500g) is 55g protein, 15g carbs and basically no fat, and about 300 kcal, which is a great "base" meal that I can eat every day. Add 500-600g meat to that and that's about 800-1300 kcal total (depending on meat) with almost 200g protein. Then just add an appropriate amount of carbs/fat/protein depending on if it's a rest day or a lifting day.

Unless you're at your genetic peak you don't need to optimize your eating habits. Employ the 80/20 rule and save yourself valuable energy and time that can be used for better purposes. Simplify as much as possible without losing the essential and important parts.
