It is a great solution if you're restricted to working out at home and only have a pair of adjustable dumbbells. Doing legs with DBs sucks of course: lunges, single-leg stiff deads etc. are all annoying as fuck.

Is it achievable to have proper natty growth with adjustable dumbbells of about 40kg doing all kinds of isolations like in this program
or do i absolutely have to go to a gym and do heavy weight full body things like deadlights and heavy bench?
so far i am about 1 year in fucking around with the dumbbells at home and although i did see some gains my strength for things
like bench, dead lifts and most leg things are way above them, only thing that is still hitting my muscles are curls, hammer curls

Mass is not necessarily strength. Bodybuilders may look huge but they would get trashed by average powerlifters in any strength competition. This said, they are still stronger than the average person

Pound-for-pound yes, but I'd say someone who did "bodybuilding" workouts (while not being afraid of pushing the weight higher) would probably become stronger than someone who did only "strength" workouts. The bodybuilder could then also switch to strength training and utilize that muscle very well, while the strength athlete would have to bulk up.
