Does strength training make you lose flexibility?

Doing MMA and I have a hard time getting my kicks high.
>>
"strength training" does not reduce flexibility but if you put on a lot of muscle you will be less flexible.

Thats what I meant. Can stretching help a lot or would it make a small amount of difference?

you need to do mobility exercises if you want to remain flexible while strength training

Currently trying out yoga in hopes of flexibility and some extra core strength

Yoga is good for overall flexibility, if you do specific exercises you can do some specific mobility. I do Foundation and follow mobility from it

5 years traditional kickboxing and mt experience here.

>Does strength training make you lose flexibility?

No. Its one of those classic uneducated mcdojo fuckwit opinions. Just like the timeless muscle will slow you down bro xd.

Do your strength training one day. Cardio and stretches and/or endurance other days.

>Doing MMA and I have a hard time getting my kicks high.

Generic MMA gyms are what anime conventions are to culture. Being mma in of itself you don't get taught the right footwork. High kicks do rely on certain aspect of flexibility but there are ways to compensate. Bending the knee on your pivoting foot. Leaning and other tricks. Practice and stretch.

No. As Arnold pointed out in his book The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding, any time you train one muscle group, you're stretching the opposing group. You shouldn't lose flexibility unless you're training your body unevenly.

Look at Tom Platz. Pic related.

No, just do plenty of hip flexibility and lumbar spine mobility stuff. I do defrancos limber 11 and assorted other hip stretches - before gym and before training.

Before strating lifting I could never touch the ground with my hands and straight legs (was skinny fat).
Now with much more muscle mass I can touch with my head in my legs, below my knees.
Just stretch (after lifting).
