They make you taller
They are helpful if you have a neck or back injury.
I don't think there's any proven science about them reversing the damage, but it can provide temporary relief.

I have hung in that full inversion position before
A it can cause capillaries in your eyeballs to burst... no bueno
two I have a degenerating disc near the bottom of my spine. after hanging like pic related I could not even stand

You never go full inversion.
im too heavy for this shit. i can feel my back getting stretched just from a dead hang from a pullup bar. it doesnt feel very good
I tried it one time and it just made the blood rush to my head and my eyes were red for like 3 hours
My dad is an orthopedic surgeon and doesn't recommend them to patients. This is a form of spinal traction. There is poor supporting evidence that it is efficacious and some risks too. If you do it, try it for a very short time and work your way up as you learn how your body will react.

I can't speak for full inversion, but I have had great pain reduction and posture improvement with other methods of spinal decompression. I basically lie across my bed width-wise, hook my feet on the edge of the bed, and let my upper body weight fall. It has done wonders for my lower back but it doesn't hit the upper spine at all.
If you're not sure about buying a inversion table try my method first and see. I will seriously consider getting one sometime in the future when I have room for it.
They work well. You can't go too steep too fast or you'll have problems like these two retards:

>Person is experiencing pain
>Upside down device gives unnatural feeling of head pressure
>Person feels much better when they get off the device due to not being upside down anymore
>the feeling of relief masks out whatever pain they had
>wow I feel much better! It works!
>day 2, pain is back
>better hang upside down again
>wow it works again! I should do this every day because it must be fixing me.
