How do I make my knees stop popping and hurting during squats?
I don't want to develop an imbalance by avoiding my squats due to pain but it's just so annoying and worrying. Basically when I squat my knees feel like they reach a point where eventually they pop, and this popping noise is painful and destabilizes me. It's preventing me from squatting heavy
Help?

How long have you been squatting and what is your working weight?
My knee problems more or less went away after I had been squatting for a while. A sports medicine doctor told me that I had a worn out or torn meniscus and that strengthening the muscles in my leg would help out a lot. I haven't thought about my knees in months, so I guess he was right.

I'm DYEL skeletor level.
I've gone up to 2x30lb dumbbell squats and can do them fine except for this pain. The pain is holding me back from increasing weight whatsoever, it's just as bad even when I don't use any weights and do plain bodyweight squats.
Should I just try my best to ignore the pain?

Find a sports medicine doctor if you can, or go to your GP and explain this shit to him. I want to say ignore it and keep working upward, but you could also end up doing more damage depending on what is wrong with your knees. If I gave you advice to just keep going based on my own experience and it turns out you don't have a worn out meniscus but some other border line horrific shit, what worked for me might fuck you up.
Go to a sports medicine doctor.

this find someone qualified
if you're stubborn you can record yourself from a bunch of angles and try to figure out if you're doing anything wonky too
Popping knees is litrelly nothing to worry about, was told by my doctor, and a knee specialist. As long as there is no PAIN it is fine.
I squat 165kg 3x5 and my knees always pop, never had a single problem with them. But i always make sure i am fully warmed up and always wear tights just to keep my knees warm.
So for any retard reading op's, dont be scared and think knees making a pop / crack is bad.

But mine is accompanied with sharp pain leading up to the pop, and when it occurs

I wasn't specifically talking to you, but to anyone else reading your post. Because i know it will 'scare" people and it will be an excuse for them not squatting.
As for you, have you tried simple remedies like using fish-oil to lube up your joints? or perhaps using knee wraps? If so go to a Doctor / knee specialist which they will do an MRI on to find the problem and stop fucking around.

Also thinking twice, you could even have fluid in your knee which might need to be taken out. Keep that in mind.
Could be an easy fix.
