Maintain a minimal deficit to limit metabolic damage and catabolism, progressively reducing intake/increasing output.

Cutting day 2
Gone down from heavy dirty bulk @ 3500
now at 2600, will I make it by april?

The trouble with that is sustainability. In the short term, it will appear as if you are getting good results. In the long term, your metabolic rate would have declined significantly without significant results. If, before, you could maintain your previous bodyweight at 2800kcal and now you can maintain your bodyweight at 1600kcal, your diet will be that much harder to manage and people in that situation tend to just put back on the weight lost, and then some.

Eat for where you want to be in 10 years, not 10 days. It's fucking hard, but you're human, so you can do it.

You should be just fine, if you get the right amount of food and stuff each day. Even on IF you wont drop muscles.
