my lower back is limiting my standing ab wheel progression.
which exercise trains this part of your core?

Use deadlifts as an assistance exercise for your standing ab wheel.
I hope you can bust through your standing ab wheel plateau.
back extensions for lower back

about deadlifts. where should i feel it when i do the exercise?
>>40203790
lower back mostly
>>40203790
your entire posterior chain if your form is correct. calves all the way to shoulders.

when i try to do it super correctly i cant lift very little. and feel it in my hamstrings.
if i just do it i feel it mostly in my lower back.

Agreed. These are great. Not only are they useful, the lower back is aesthetic is fuark imo and the pump is a great feeling.
Do 3 sets at bw, for around 10-20 reps then add weight.

>the pump is a great feeling
After fucking my lower back doing other shit, a pump there only ever worries me.
>>40203866
>>40203550
does the standing ab wheel itself still build my lower back and doing back extension would just speed up my ab wheel progression.
or do i literally need to do another exercise to focus purely on it, to improve it.

A pump is really different then a pain... i completely get a loss of confidence following an injury but back extensions (let alone bw ones) are way less likely to hurt you then a squat, ohp or deadlift.

Lower back will be worked a bit doing ab wheels but not loads. Try planks too.
>>40204532
i can already do planks for like 5 minutes.
>>40204586
Weighted planks. Bodyweight planks don't do shit.
>>40204656
placing a plate on your back when doing a plank seems dangerous.
>>40204662
You obviously need to take it slow. Start with a 2.5kg or 5kg plate and work your way up from there.
>>40204662
Id say to sligthly alter your position every time. This way you work more tiny muscles and hopefully help you fulfill what you miss
>>40203826
start from the beginning, and focus on form.
once you've perfected it, you can just work your way back up pretty easily, if you have the strength to do so.

The purpose of a plank is resisting lumbar extension, once bodyweight is too easy you increase weight causing higher stress to resist lumbar extension
