I had one near my groin when I was younger. It got worse when I started working out so I had to remove it, that's probably the best even if I couldn't lift for some time.

Generally speaking hernias occur in places lymphnodes do not get swollen. Also hernias are soft and pliable, where as swollen lymph nodes are firm and have less motion. Lymph nodes are also bilateral or if unilateral are usually more than one. Unless it is an isolated source of infection or cancerous.

I got one, inguinal hernia as well. I was waiting for a thread like this. Surgeon told me to get the operation since I have a laceration of 2 cm's on my right side.

He told me not to do heavy lifting or any general activity that places a lot of stress on the abdomen. I was thinking of working my upper body until the operation and avoid Deadlifts and Squats for a while.

Well yeah I knew something was off right away. When I was peeing one day I saw a slight lump on the said area. I checked it with my fingers and confirmed that it was a small lump.

Was freaking out so much since I was seeing different girls then and thought it was an STD or something at first glance. Then did a bit of googling and self diagnosis before I went to the doc's office and the pics on the google for inguinal hernia looked identical to what I had. Made sense since I was lifting very heavy a month prior.
