How fat do you have to be for running to cause damage to your joints?
If I run for 30 minutes a day every day, and I am 6ft 84.5kg (187lbs).
just make sure to get plenty of recovery after each run. Run about 4 days a week. Do two distance runs and two workouts (tempo run, surges, hills) twice a week.
Do not over do it and make sure you have proper shoes. Go to a local running store and get some good shoes designed for your feet.
Finally, do not run on a tread mill. Tread mills put more stress on your joints and it will also lead to your hamstrings being neglected.
I ran cross country for four years and have experienced a fair share of running injuries. Take this advice seriously, ESPECIALLY the running shoes. I got a bad case of tendinitis running in bad shoes that were too big and were not designed for my feet.

Try and stay off of roads and run trails if you can. It's easier on the joints. Besides, trails are about 1000x more enjoyable than running on roads, especially with cars blowing exhaust in your face.
