I've been lifting for 18 months and I'm still not at 1/2/3/4.

Should I kill myself now or wait until it's been two years?
>>
Eat food please. And do more volume.
>>
Not OP, but what is the average time for getting to 1/2/3/4 from first step into the gym to PR day? Assuming you don't take any long term breaks?
>>

I've been lifting for 3-4 years now with solid programming and good nutrition (this is the kind of thing I study at university) and am still not quite at 1/2/3/4.
Judging by the rate of my progression, I honestly think I'll hit 1/2/3/4 in like 3 years and it'll be around my natty limit.

Legit think i just have shit genetics

Are you sure your nutrition is where it should be? I have been lifting 8 months and I am already closing in on 1/2/3/4 natty, and I have a friend who has lifted for a little over a year and he is only missing the deadlift on 1/2/3/4. Do genetics really cause that much of a variance?

I would say it varies based upon past activity level more than anything. A sedentary twink sized manlet would probably take 3 or 4 years to hit it. Meanwhile an ox of a man who grew up working on a farm or playing football could probably hit it in under a year.

Either way, as long as you're improving your lifts it doesn't matter. Everyone has their own pace
>>
after 6 months of SL I went from 45/55/75/135 to 115/170/290/330 lbs for 5 reps, but I ate too much and got fat so now I have to cut for a bit

I think if you have proper nutrition and programming there's no reason you couldn't hit 1/2/3/4 pl8s for reps in a year. however most people don't for a myriad of reasons

I'm gonna graduate as a dietitian in a couple of years and my nutrition is probably better than 98% of /fit/. My programming should be fine too.

I've heard of several people who came close to 2/3/4/5 on their first day in the gym. And on the other hand I've seen some people who never bench 2pl8 no matter what they do with their training or nutrition. Really hope it's just genetics man, hope I'm not low test or something.

This seems to be partially true. I am a former sedentary twink-sized manlet, but most of my strength and size gains happened in my first like 6 months of lifting. I think once you get past noob gains, former lifestyle has little to do with it
>>

Buddy you have to switch up your training, actutally add weight. If your diet and sleep are "better than 98% of /fit/" then the reason is your training. What does your routine look like and are you consistently upping the weight/intensity.
>>
>>39984965
Sleep is potentially the cause of the problem. I helped out on a study looking into muscle protein synthesis and sleep deprivation and basically sleep is important. I sleep pretty shittily; irregular times, super light sleeper so I wake up all the time, go to bed too late.

My training knowledge isn't as solid as my nutrition knowledge but it's still pretty darn good. Exercise science major in my undergrad.

Currently running a push/pull kinda routine, 4x/week. Everything in hypertrophy ranges atm except 1-2 heavy compounds per workout at about 4x6 or so. Vary intensity and rep ranges a little based on how I'm feeling. But pretty consistently upping the weight, feeling it's too heavy and deloading, building up again, etc.

Just been more or less stuck with slight improvements happening occasionally for the last year probably. Tried varying my training from like full body, bro splits, varying up my cardio, etc. I think I'm just destined to be a twink
