Thoughts on exercise bikes? Things to look out for when picking one out?

Right now I don't do shit and thought it might be a good idea to get one.
I feel like it would be easy to listen to music or watch something while doing it, so it won't be as boring as some people say for me.

I'm compelled to buy a cheap one like pic related, which also doesn't take up much space (I won't have much room for bigger ones), but I fear it's not gonna last and gonna be shit.
I'm not trying to get super fit or lose weight, I just don't want to be in absolute garbage shape anymore, and it'd be better than nothing.

Used treadmills and exercise bikes are excellent for NEETs. Just set the pace for walking to 3mph, or 15mph on a bike, and just watch tv or play videogames. It's doubly effective, as you are both adding in exercise and removing time spent sitting.

I would recommend buying one used on craigslist or whatever the equivalent of a used goods website in your country is. No treadmills or exercise bikes are worth it new.

Why not running? Costs nothing, takes up no space and easy

Try out the bike before you buy it or you'll end up like me and get fisted by an oddly angled seat. Jump roping is my preferred small space cardio though

I could, but the idea of being able to get something else done like watching a show is really appealing to me. Doing nothing but sitting while watching feels like a waste of time, yet there are things I'd like to get through regardless (anime lmao).

This is a good point, I was already worried that the seat would be horribly uncomfortable.

YES!

Bought a bike in december, could only get 4 sessions in so far because of winter vacation but I'm loving it. Watching one tv episode while doing it, so 45min, and trying to increase resistance/kcal used in that time frame. Goal would be hitting 500-700kcal in that time frame, currently at 400, 4 times a week after lifting (homegym), otherwise I would just drive at the regular gym...

Currently watching the new season of X-files while biking. It's really a time saver combining both, otherwise I would go running, but I simply don't want to at these temperatures and otherwise I wouldn't have time to watch shows due to the job taking up too much time otherwise.

I really love it.
