Wouldn't double underhand DL be more functional than alternatives? If you and your friends are trying to literally lift a car out of a ditch or pick up anything seriously heavy aren't you doing it double underhand?

I'm legitimately curious about this too. Probs going to mention bicep tears though

You can actually overhand grip the bar contrary to cars, boxes and refrigerators

Try deadlifting doubl overhand without using your thumb then
I tried it yesterday and by 130kg my grip started giving up

yeah it would be more functional but there would also be greater limitations to your training because of bicep tears as mentioned >>39965629
I would also probably argue that getting stronger in absolute terms has more carryover to odd jobs like that because the weight would be a much smaller proportion of your strength threshold. Someone doing all their deads double underhand will probably progress a lot slower, not least because they'll probably suffer a bicep tear when it gets heavy enough

overhand uses more or less all the same muscles but is safer
>bicep tear compilation
Never tried doh until yesterday. Got to almost 4 plate with chalk is that respectable?

Try it then.
