Doesn'this seem better for my gains than the 3-times-a-week workout with cardio everyone here seems to be recommending?

You'll be able to keep that up for about two months before you get completely fucked.
UNLESS you're self aware enough to accurately regulate your own lifting. Learn how heavily and how much you can lift before you cross that threshold into completely exhausting yourself.
That workout done seriously is a short term thing for fairly advanced guys.
It CAN be tailored for new lifters but it'll be nigh impossible for newbs to figure it out on their own.
There's a reason why Arnold pushed calisthenics as a way to build a base and learn how their body functions before going into serious exercise.
