What's /fit/'s opinion on chemical peeling?

I'm scheduled for one in about a week, but I'm still not sure if I'll actually do it after reading some scary stuff about it.

I can imagine, not looking forward for it, but if it works it works.
I was planning on doing laser treatment at first, but my dermatologist recommended peeling instead, laser just seems so much simpler.

Reading stuff like this http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/10/25/a-warning-on-chemical-peels/?_r=0 has me worried though.
