I have some cheapass laptop bag. But its actually sturdy and hardwearing as fuck.
Although wtf lol I just googled it and it costs £40 brand new.
I got it for free from my old workplace.
Targus is the brand.

What sort of engineering? I work a rotation on offshore rigs, have been thinking about getting into a shoreside gig on the side.
Sort of related. I finish my bachelors of electrical engineering in 1 more term. What is the work load like for a new graduate engineer?
I would get 2 different bags. My gym does not smell pleasant.
