Is it true that a healthy person should be able to maintain this position for 30 minutes? I just tried it and couldn't last 1 minute

It's not that hard if you work at it every day. I squat while playing vidya and doing computer work.

Do you actually feel comfortable though?

you should definitely be able to last a few minutes atleast however to say that lasting 30 minutes while squatting means your healthy is wrong

and yes it should be pretty comfy overall

if you have the ankle mobility to drop onto your haunches like the guy in ops pic it should be no problem, sometimes my shin muscles get tired but readjusting position relieves them. but most people in the west lack that ankle mobility.

Will this help my squat?

After a while I forget I'm in the position. I usually feel tight when I start, but then it gets better, although there is a point where I want to stop, and it usually depends on how frequently I practice, and how active I've been during the day. I've only been working to improve holding a squat for less than a year, but I've made a whole lot of progress relative to where a started (I also wasn't able to hold a squat for more than a minute). Don't be afraid to shift around and take quick standing breaks etc. It takes a while to get the time up, but now doing any kind of work outside or work on the car is so much easier for me, since I can just pop a squat and relax in that position.

also like >>39885228 says, it doesn't mean you'll be healthy. It just means you're getting closer to the decent mobility that you've lost after sitting in chairs for years.
