No, Rip teaches that the back should remain "tight" and that the only pivot should be at the hip joint.

The Press (TM) should involve tight abs that keep the back from bending like that.

Not exactly correct. You are supposed to flex your abs and lock your knees. You squeeze your ass to thrust your hips forward without loosing the tight abs or locked knees.

If done correctly, The Press™ is a full body movement from the floor to the bar.

The back does not bend like in these videos.
