Do you have to be dying to go to the ER?

Sorry faggot but webmd says it requires medical attention, and i don't think waiting weeks to see my GP would work.
>>
help!!!

idk what to do!
>>
how old are you?
any other symptoms? flashes of light? dark "curtains"?
go to an eye doctor
>>
>>39828684
20
Not really flashes of light but kind of sensitivity to light (not terribly bad tho)

Not sure if peripheral vision is really effected.

Other symptoms would be occasional twitching of eyelids and being somewhat bloodshot (not really sure how to explain the severity).

I live in Canada. what is an "eye doctor"? Like an optometrist? Where you'd get an eye exam done?
>>
>>39828528
Might be retinal detachment. This can and will progress to blindness if not treated, so get your ass to a doctor.
>>
>>39828741
>Might be retinal detachment.

I was under the impression my eye would be like entirely blood-red and in SEVERE pain?

It's basically just been really hurting for the last few days and I've been sleeping a lot. Sometimes it feels better but kind of the back/top of my eye hurts.

>This can and will progress to blindness if not treated, so get your ass to a doctor

What doctor??? Will any be able to tell or do i need to go to like a specialist?
>>
>>39828705
did you get any head trauma recently? bang your head accidentally or something? might have popped a blood vessel
your regular eye doctor that you go to to get glasses might not have the right equipment to examine your eye in depth, you better go to the ER in a hospital with an eye care centre.

>Canada

enjoy waiting 5 hours

Not that I can think of maybe though.

Should I see a walk-in clinic doctor first? They'll probably be able to at least tell me if there's cause for concern and to go to an ER?
>>
>>39828787
>Should I see a walk-in clinic doctor first?
most likely a waste of time because if they happen to actually have the equipment to check your eye thoroughly AND they notice a big problem (ie retinal detachment) they'll send you to the ER anyway.
Just go to the hospital man, if you do have a real problem wasting time is not good. And make sure that hospital has an eye care deopartment with real eye surgeons and shit, depending on where you live there might possibly be only a few of them throughout the city.
>>
>>39828806
fuck dude... i live kind of in the middle of nowhere

I just don't know if it's severe enough to warrant going, I'd hate to waste their time. But it's pretty persistent and concerning, just seems weird saying "Hello yes my eyes hurt and i keep getting floaters" when there's people who got hit by a car or are having a heart attack. U know?
>>
>>39828819
you shouldn't play down your own health especially if it's your eye, and you shouldn't worry about the doctors that is their job. I'm from Canada as well, what's the closest city to you?
My mother had a shit ton of floaters and flashes of light in her left eye some months ago so we went to a walk in which didn't have good equipment so the doc only listened to the symptoms and said she might have retinal detachment so he urged us to go to a hospital asap. So we went to one without an eye care departments and they checked her eye with some shitty equipment and said it's probably retinal detachment, so they sent us to an actual eye surgeon that checked her in his office and spotted the actual problem so he sent us then to an actual hospital with an eye centre and there they did a good analysis of the eye and it turned out she had something completely different and somewhat not critical so it was a huge sigh of relief to us. But between all these check and appointments we waited something like 1.5-2 weeks. If you happen to actually have retinal detachment your condition can really deteriorate in short amount of time so do you really want to risk it? It's no joke.
>>
>>39828819
My father had the same shit. was retina detachment go to the hospital. Even if it isnt that, with these symptoms they hardly think you waste their time.
>>
>>39828874
i just don't really have anything truly visible, or debilitating.

>>39828872
>you shouldn't play down your own health especially if it's your eye, and you shouldn't worry about the doctors that is their job

Ur right dude but i just don't know...

>>39828872
>I'm from Canada as well, what's the closest city to you?

I live in Newmarket ontario, I don't have a car though so I don't really have the luxury or going to the best hospital

i don't know man i don';t know what to do.
>>
>>39828911
Find a hospital in Toronto that has eye care
Since you live in the middle of nowhere and you don't have a car I assume you live with your parents? If so call one of them and explain your situation. Do you have siblings or friends who can drop you off? Worst comes to worst, call 911 and explain your situation and that you don't have a means of transportation.
>>
>>39828911
You must be trolling. Newmarket is right outside Toronto and even has its own full service hospital: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southlake_Regional_Health_Centre.
>>
>>39828955
there's one hospital here that seems to have it where people get cataract surgery done all the time

But I'm looking through the reviews and they seem awful for mostof them, not sure if it's just memes but it's not terribly reassuring

>>39828965
I know but I don't know if it's any good, or equipped for dealing with this stuff like the anon said about an eye care center.
>>
i'm 20 and just recently started seeing a ton of floaters.
they appeared after I had started jogging for the first time ever.
no eye pain though. just a lot of floaters. annoying.
>>
>>39828979
The hospital has a dedicated eye institute: http://www.southlakeregional.org/Default.aspx?cid=801&lang=1

It seems like you're actively looking for excuses not to get help at this point, so I'm out.
>>
>>39828979
>I don't know if it's any good
lol at being picky about this. hope you go blind senpai.
>>
>>39829021
dude i know

I looked at it but it barely gives any information. Sorry if it sounds like i'm trying to make excuses but I'm just really unsure of what to do
>>
>>39828911
just because you cant see anything in the mirror with your fucked up eyes doesnt mean you shouldnt visit a hospital. Better be safe than sorry, or dont you need your eyes for the remainder of your lifetime?
>>
>>39828979
>reviews
I don't know what's it about negative reviews cuz I too checked for reviews of eye surgeons when my mother had problems and most of them were negative. I think that when something bad happens and a surgery is unsuccessful you are more than likely to blame the surgeon and leave a bad review than if the surgery is good, but I don't know maybe most eye surgeons are incompetent. You should go regardless to check your eye, the important thing is that you get a good analysis because most symptoms for eye problems are very similar, so it could be something minor or major.
>>
>>39828979
You're being a faggot, enjoy becoming blind because you're pathetic and make excuses for everything
>>
>>39828528
go to the fucking eyes medic or whatever you call it in your country
>>
>>39829055
>>39829059
>>39829071
fuck you're right guys

Thanks im going to go right now. If anything at least it'll be nothing and I just wasted some time but found out it wasn't fucked.
>>
judging from this thread, you have some psychological disorder. munchausen?
>>
>>39829178
I wouldn't say so. I just have a problem and I'm worried about it, if that's abnormal then I don't want to be what normal is.
>>
>>39829158
tell us once you have the results OP
>>
>>39828528
If you've had blurry vision or a change in eyesight you should go ahead and go. it could be a torn retina or the beginnings of one. Better safe than sorry
>>
Good luck OP, having eye problems is stressful as fuck.
>>
>>39829191
>disregard all advice
>keep bitching and whining
>i dun no wat to dooo
quite normal behaviour.
>>
I don't know if anybody has said this yet,but you may have an eyelash that detached and went up into your eye socket. It hurts like a motherfucker, and causes the exact symptoms you're talking about (except for light-sensitivity).
