do I have to read this whole thing? I'm 10% through from 2 days reading and it's 90% bullshit this could easily be condensed, I'm only interested in form and safety.

you don't have to read all of it, but the chapters about the main compound exercises are very important for form and safety. also note that the book is meant to be a comprehensive description of the barbell exercises. there are a lot more detail there than necessary for a rank beginner, but after you've lifted for a while and run into a specific problem you'll appreciate the level of detail.
