I fucking hate exercises for abs.
They're boring and take like a million reps to burn.

Are there any other ways to work on abs other then leg raises, crunches or planks?

would you still curl 5lb dumbbells after years?

grab a dumbbell and hold it behind your head for resistance so you arent doing 500 crunches

You are suppose to do it weighted if you can do more than 8 reps.
Train it like any other muscle.

Do hanging leg raises with weight for 3 sets of 8.
Planks are difficult to load and weird.
Crunches are difficult to load and its a weird movement.

Leg raises and sit ups are easy to load.
Squats and deads isnt enough for abs, alone.

planking for 60 seconds is piss easy, try hollow holds for 60 seconds

if you look like you're giving birth after 30 seconds, you're doing it right

these are also pretty easy and don't take many reps, but upper abs are uncomfortable so it's best to hold a weight between your thumbs at the back of your head, contract the abs hard and they will be over with quickly. aim for around 15 reps for 3 sets then failure on the 4th set, should be enough

People are actually retarded. They think if they just do dl's and squats they'll have strong abs and a strong core, wrong. If you want to prevent injury you HAVE to work them and your lower back directly, compounds with heavy weight will eventually lead to injury if your core hasn't caught up.

I'd say yes. When lying on the floor, you'll notice an arch in your lower back leaving the floor. Flex your abs and pull that portion of your lower back against the floor, almost like you're trying to rotate your belly button/ hips towards your face. Hold this tension at all times throughout your movements. Keep your movements slow and steady, as momentum easily robs work from these exercises. Breathe deeply under tension with your chest at the start point of your reps ( legs barely of the floor).

I don't do ab work because I'm still kinda fat and consider it a waste at this point (plan on doing it when my bf drops below 15%), but I do heavy compunds and some core work (planks, vacuums) - and I've noticed some ab developement for sure. Can't SEE them of course, but I can feel them. So why the hate?
