Is there any actual EVIDENCE that machines "make you injury prone because your stabilizers are not being trained?"

I've heard that meme many times, but never seen an actual study or something like that.

If you want to do anything useful with your strength, machines make you injury prone.

For example, say you can use the hammer row machine, the reverse hyper machine, and the leg press machine.

There is no guarantee that those three together will help you lift a couch.

Deadlifting, on the other hand, does prepare you for such things.

Pressing machines don't prepare you to push a car the same way squats and OHP do.

Machines are good for developing control and basic muscle. When I started, I had nothing. Couldn't even lift the bar. Couldn't do one push-up. Machines got me to the point where I could begin deadlifting, OHP, bar squats and benchpresses.

The idea is that deadlifting 500 lbs makes a 100 lb object easier to carry.

In the event that the object is less than 500 and hard to carry, it is probably because the size of the object is creating torque which effectively increases the weight on the body.

using machines makes you less prone to injury than someone who isn't even using machine. they are simply a tool - good for total beginners so you don't have to correct them at every rep and perhaps some more advanced bodybuilders who want to work on a specific ROM
