what's the difference between added sugar and natural sugar?
spoiler/nothing/spoiler
good job op
@sugarindustry
@FDA
@liberals
Taking the bait here
Most of the sugars found in sweets come from processed sugars and are chock full of things that can make you fat as fuck.
Meanwhile natural sugars which can be found in carbs and fruits and veggies are full of nutrients and proteins that can actually be used by the body.

Added sugar is isolated sugar added to foods, natural sugar is sugar packaged with all the nutrients and chemicals synthesized by the natural sugar-containing food that work synergistically to allow our bodies to utilize the sugar without the negative health effects of taking in sugar in isolation

Wrong
>>39714452
>>39714448
ok but the sugar itself is the same horrible shit that's causing obesity
I understand that if you eat 5 apples you'll get full from fiber and won't want to eat for awhile but it's still doing the same damage as if eating 5 snickers bars
I'm sick of people treating added sugar differently if it does the same damage
>>39714466
Eating 5 apples is not the same as eating 5 snickers bars, cheeto tits.
>>39714481
thank you captain obvious
why don't you drink a gallon of orange juice? The sugar is all natural you won't get fat!
>>39714417
>what is fiber
read robert lustig and stop being such a fool
>>39714489
Well it's a hell of a lot better than drinking a gallon of soda that's for sure. You shouldn't be drinking a gallon of anything.
>>39714466
>ok but the sugar itself is the same horrible shit that's causing obesity
At a molecular level, the sugars themselves are the same. The contribution of sugar to American obesity rates is due to isolated sugars being so easy to eat, and when it leads to high caloric intake like it does with the already otherwise calorie-dense American diet, it exacerbates the problem.
>I understand that if you eat 5 apples you'll get full from fiber and won't want to eat for awhile but it's still doing the same damage as if eating 5 snickers bars
>I'm sick of people treating added sugar differently if it does the same damage
You don't understand then. Re-watch the video. Sugar in isolation, like many nutrients do when refined and eaten outside of its intended packaging, can cause health problems. Most natural foods that contain sugar don't cause the problems that isolated sugars cause.
>>39714481
its the same as drinking 5 cans of coke though
>what is glycemic index
Are you even fucking trying, OP?
The only situation the two sugars are the same is if you're about to perform HIIT. Otherwise, the fruit can be used for energy later while the candy literally turns immediately into fat.
Keep wondering why you're a fat shit while crying some nonsense about "it's the same as eating fruit!"
>>39714516
eating a fruit cup is just as bad as eating a snickers
the snickers would probably be cheaper and more enjoyable as well
>>39714442
went thru the fit humor thread, didnt laugh. read this. kekd. thanks
>>39714571
>apple
>used as energy throughout the next 24 hours
>coke
>used as energy throughout the next hour, and if unused turned directly into fat
it's not the same retard
>>39714594
ok but that's literally wrong
There isn't a difference the difference is the ease of consuming added sugar.
Added sugar has been put in to nearly every piece of food you eat and why we are currently dealing with an obesity epidemic.
>>39714650
this is some solid common ground
>>39714604
Depends on what the fruit cup is made of, but I feel like you're trying to not understand things
>>39714619
just saying it's wrong doesn't make it wrong, you retard.
also, fruits have a bunch of other shit in them, like carbs and vitamins and valedictorians and fiber.
By your retard-logic you can just eat spoonfuls of sugar all day everyday and be ok.
also, glucose is not the same as fructose.
>>39714417
There are many different kinds of "sugars" but I choose to call them "sweeteners". The "sugars" you are thinking about are short-chain, soluble carbohydrates, however these can come on different forms and can be made differently.
One you should watch out for is bleached cain sugar (the basic cooking sugar you find), however this is rarely used in sweet drinks and snacks today.
The most commonly used on is high fructose corn syrup (which is synthesized from genetically modified corn), or aspartame (which is synthesized from crude oil).
There are bunch of stuff you can look into, just try to stay away from anything that has added sugars.
>>39714619
nice argument faggot
don't know why I even bother with these sub 80 iq fat rednecks. Do humanity a favor and off yourself, if the sugar doesn't do it first.
>>39714678
>valedictorians
what
>>39714689
your body digests fructose the same whether it came from corn syrup or from an apple
cmon man
>>39714604
it sounds like you just want someone to tell you it's okay to eat snickers bars
>>39714798
but it doesn't you fucking idiot
>replace with apple
>>39714824
google is free faggot
The amount.
>>39714512
Gallon of whole milk a day
>>39714448
The only thing that will make you fat is a caloric surplus. Both will be used by the body, dumbass.
ITT american FDA retarded cucks who think fruit will make them just as fat as processed sugar
not sure if bait or op is just retarded
>>39714417
It's added. As in, there's a lot fucking more of it. If you only eat stuff with naturally occurring sugar, e.g. fruit, you'll have a hard time eating enough to catch beetus.
>>39715057
>>39714901
The amount has nothing to do with it. 50g of sugar from grapes and 50g of sugar from soda don't cause the same health problems. That's why sugar limit guidelines don't apply to fruits.
http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2015/sugar-guideline/en/
>The WHO guideline does not refer to the sugars in fresh fruits and vegetables, and sugars naturally present in milk, because there is no reported evidence of adverse effects of consuming these sugars.
>>39715100
this niggers got it
>>39715100
///thread
op kill yourself
>>39715100
The amount has quite a bit to do with it. 50g worth of sugar from grapes is like a large bowl full of grapes. 50g worth of sugar from a soda is less than what's in a single 16 oz bottle.
>>39714571
HOLY FUCK YOURE A RETARD HAHAH
>>39714571
Wrong, fruits contain simple sugars fructose and glucose but contain long chains of carbohydrates meaning longer absorption time. These natural carbs are reduced in breads (etc) fake carbs, which why sugar spikes happen. Plz take bio course or do research.
>>39714452
>some chemical and fiber blocks the uptake of sugars
Whoop-de-fucking-do. Besides the wishful generalization that all natural (whatever that means) fruit contains this based on one study with one type of fruit it's no problem to just eating less refined sugar to match the new caloric value or take it with a carb blocker to get the same shit. No vague naturalism garbage needed.
