You'll care in your 30s at well. Even people in their 80s still care about their hair. It's not something you can just assume you'll lose interest in.
You're fighting an uphill battle against your genetics. There's only so much you can do to keep the tuft from migrating to your grundle.
Buzz it if you have to. Even a buzzed cut looks great on a man. Makes you look older, but confident.

I did finasteride for 5 months, it worked, but I also got alot of side effects, lost my morning boners, sex drive went down, general feeling of foginess and insecurity.

It fucks with your hormones, so imo it's not worth it.

In the end I shaved it and moved on

I'm only 20 and have a badly receding hairline, think Toby "Eggman" Reynolds but with a slight V shaped peninsula in the middle

Not really sure what to do anymore, trying to grow it long to cover but my hair is thin enough that it might not work very well... on the other hand my head is full of dents from fighting in childhood and I look very much underage with a clean shaven head
